DECK NAME - Street Fighters

https://youtu.be/Udt1ePSXSng

OVERVIEW - This deck is built to withstand the possibility of engaging 3 enemies (Beorn) in round 1 and even having to discard your entire hand immediately (Beravor). Thalin plus an array of direct damage and 3X of the amazing Ranger Spikes means you won't have to deal with enemies and shadow cards as you easily cruise to a win.

HEROES

  • Beorn - early combat and battle questing when safe to do so (e.g. Ranger Spikes in staging area etc); not the end of the world if he dies after you have gotten the deck rolling; sometimes Umbar Assassin will kill Beorn if he has taken lots of early damage
  • Beravor - attach Song of Kings; card draw every round
  • Thalin - attach Song of Kings, Song of Wisdom, Steward of Gondor, and 2X Dwarven Axe; commit him to quests and combine direct damage effects to kill enemies before they can attack or engage

STRATEGY

  • SETUP - look for a well-rounded hand; Dwarven Axe w Goblin-cleaver is one combo that can be good if you plan to send thalin on the quest in round 1; also Feint and Expecting Mischief are good choices
  • ROUND ONE - if Leaping Fish adds an enemy at the start of questing, keep everyone ready instead of questing; if you have an Expecting Mischief in hand it might be wise to play it and commit Thalin so that 3 health enemies immediately die and a 3rd enemy doesn't get added to the staging area; it's possible to get 3 enemies in round 1 so be ready; be sure to put damage on the hero w Alcaron's Scroll in order to negate the forced effect on The Leaping Fish in round 2; finish up combat w Beorn then wait until after last shadow revelation to use Beravor's action as there is a shadow card that makes you discard your hand
  • CARD DRAW - Beravor, Gléowine and Gandalf
  • THREAT REDUCTION - Gandalf is plenty
  • DIRECT DAMAGE - Thalin along with a combination of Expecting Mischief, Shadow of the Past, Fresh Tracks, Gandalf, and Goblin-cleaver will destroy enemies when they're revealed or before they can attack
  • Ranger Spikes - this card is clutch for this quest; great to have one out when you advance to 3A; try and kill enemies trapped in RS when it's safe to do so and then grab it out of your discard w Erebor Hammersmith next round
  • Miner of the Iron Hills - use to remove Local Trouble
  • Vassal of the Windlord - great for battle questing; try and keep from engaging Zealous Traitor or you'll lose them
  • Faramir - necessary for questing in 3B as it is not battle questing
  • Shadow of the Past - great card to play while you're getting your deck up and running to insure you don't get the wrong card added to staging
  • Gandalf - he mostly lowers threat but with Thalin and Sneak Attack he is perfect for killing Unbar Assassin before he engages you so keep one on hand if he hasn’t shown up
  • 3X Song of Wisdom - needed to pay for resources; I was struggling a bit with this deck until I included it and that was the missing link
