DECK NAME - Oathbreakerbreakers

OVERVIEW - Due to the Spectral keyword, this quest requires high levels of across multiple characters. Sword that was Broken boosts to necessary levels. Set up your board state and delay moving past stage 1B until you're ready. Then use For Gondor! to quest past 3B (if in Midnight).

HEROES

STRATEGY

  • OPENING HAND - hard mulligan for Steward of Gondor
  • STAGE 1B - try and hang out here for a few rounds rounds and get your army of allies out; before moving on try and have at least one ally out whose is less than 2 so that you can travel to Stone of Erech
  • STAGE 2B - usually I opt to skip planning and build up my resources assuming my threat is lower from sneak attacking Gandalf in
  • STAGE 3B - try and enter this stage with a Ranger Spikes in staging for the Oathbreaker enemy that is going to be added; also try and have a threat lower than 30 (if you don't want to engage The Lord of the Dead); use For Gondor! to get necessary levels for Battle questing (if in Midnight)
  • CARD DRAW - Beravor, 3X Daeron's Runes and potentially Gandalf (though I'd say threat reduction > damage > card draw in order of priority)
  • THREAT REDUCTION - Gandalf's main function
  • Celebrían's Stone - boosts Aragorn's for greater Spectral attack and gives him icon in order to play pivotal Ethir Swordsman and A Test of Will
  • Miner of the Iron Hills - only way to remove Driven By Fear condition; also useful as a chump of for Midnight battle questing and for traveling to Stone of Erech
  • Snowbourn Scout - use exclusively to knock out Blackroot Graves location if needed
  • Cram - resources go fast so this works better than Unexpected Courage on Aragorn or even Fast Hitch on Sam; this card makes a huge difference; allows you to not use Aragorn's response unnecessarily and to ready Aragorn for surprise attacks
  • Protector of Lórien - provides Aragorn with hugely helpful and for Spectral attack
  • Ranger Spikes - removes 3 enemies from the equation
  • Sword that was Broken - don't rush to put it out; make sure it's in play before advancing to stage 2
  • A Good Harvest - provides more flexibility than Song of Wisdom and it saves you helpful resources; keep Shadow-man enemy's "when revealed" in mind
  • A Test of Will - included to combat the possibility of a The Dead Ride Behind Treachery completely wrecking you
  • For Gondor! - use in 3B if in Midnight; fun moment
  • TARLANG'S NECK - keep in mind that Tarlang's Neck allows you to leave enemies in staging; if you turtle a bit by not exploring, enemies will be stuck in staging
  • STONE OF ERECH - "each" can't be 0 so you have to at least exhaust 1 character to travel here
  • THE LORD OF THE DEAD - engaging him blanks out your characters text boxes; not the end of the world if you plan to attack and kill him, but it does eliminate Gandalf's response (and his discard effect at end of round), Sam's response, Miner's response, and the Outlands boosts; I usually just insure my threat is below 30 and leave him in the staging area
