This is an idea that I've been working with last days: Using Lothíriel + Escort from Edoras + Gamling to provide a decent amount of willpower in quests in a quite "regular" way.
I think that the new Messenger of the King will be very useful with this idea, as it will assure you to have Gamling in play since the very first round, allowing you to recover all Escort from Edoras used to quest with Lothíriel. Also, as Gamling is now a hero, he can use Unexpected Courage to use his ability with other allies.
Also, they are other small sinergies in the deck. Master Ironsmith are there to allow you attach Gúthwinë to Éomer, giving you more recursivity to any rohan ally which you've had to discard or sacrifice.
Another sinergy there is Secret Vigil + Faramir + Lothíriel. Which is an autokill for any enemy with les than 4 HP, and threat reduction equal to its Reforged are there to allow more recursivity also of this.
I haven't even tested, but I think it could work, providing some interesting plays and card interactions.

Feb 28, 2020Excellent idea. I especially like how Lothíriel and Horn of the Mark interact to new you a card. This makes the archetype viable, as the old Gamling decks (even after Gúthwinë) suffered from being too resource intensive without enough card draw. This deck solves both of those problems elegantly, Bravo! |
Feb 28, 2020Glad to see that the deck is getting that love ! I have already tested it (few games in OCTGN), and is working quite well. Anyway I'm sure that it can be easily improved. (Mounts would be an option for sure as I'm really not sure about The Muster of Rohan, just added there because it's a new card that I haven't test yet, but I'll probably swap them for anything else, maybe Astonishing Speed or just the cards I'd just mentioned. |
Mar 05, 2020What if you draw Gamling in your opening hand? I believe the contract says to search your deck for a non-neutral unique ally. If you mulligan'd already and have gamling in hand you have to choose another ally from your deck? Should you include 2x copies of gamling in the deck instead of only 1? |
Mar 05, 2020I built the deck when I first read the contract without knowing the exact timing of it. Probably I'd play two copies just for this reason, yes. |
Mar 13, 2020What haha how is that how messenger of the king works? That must be some crazy oversight, you build your MOTK deck and if you draw the guy the whole deck is ruined? thats mental. WHo wouldnt just start the game again until you didn't get him, and in that case, the card is designed wrong |
Jul 17, 2020When you play an ally using Lothiriels ability can you then discard the ally triggering the allies discard ability? Assuming of course that there is one. |

Other than no mounts, I'm a big fan of this! I was playing with a similar idea, but including Forefoot, etc. with Horse Breeder
