Mengel 20

Welcome, this is my current favourite deck (04/2020) playing LotR LCG solo. My aim is to play all scenarios in chronological order. With this deck I finished Shadows of Mirkwood Cycle and currently finished Khazad-dum Expansion scenarios with Flight from Moria being my last one.

This deck is a amend as needed per scenario deck, but the main theme is prominent as I progress each scenario (trying to control the encounter deck and board state).

Mulligan/Opening Hand:

Glorfindel: You want Light of Valinor soon as possible, I would usually take the mulligan in the hopes to get Light of Valinor. Secondly I will rely on Bilbo Baggins or Daeron's Runes to draw me Asfaloth as soon as possible for better control to clear locations. Use Daeron's Runes to discard all the unique double copies of cards in your hand as they will usually end up being dead cards in your hand if you are not playing with Éowyn.

Bilbo Baggins and Denethor is looking for Fast Hitch, Boots from Erebor and probably most importantly A Burning Brand.

The Game Plan:

Gandalf is awesome in this deck, as the starting threat is low you can play him and probably keep him on the table for two or more rounds depending on the scenario. Included is Elrond's Counsel to even play more beneficial in that course of play. Arwen Undómiel is extra questing power and her +1 Shield should go ideally on Bilbo Baggins most of the time. If Bilbo Baggins has the Fast Hitch attached he can end up blocking most of the enemies. Because of this reason you will probably want to attach A Burning Brand to Bilbo Baggins first, with the option to attached a second one to Denethor.

Denethor is ideally used to look at the top card of the encounter deck to know what to expect or if needed to move said card to the bottom of the encounter deck. If this happens you can also rely on Mirkwood Runner to help out as needed in that regard. I find Unexpected Courage works well on Denethor or Glorfindel, play Unexpected Courage on the Hero that needs it the most in the current scenario.

Rest of the cards I will not discuss in detail, but they are mostly self-explanatory and should be used as needed.

Enjoy and have fun, if you have an questions or recommendations kindly comment.
