This deck was used in my Playthrough of Massing at Osgiliath. The Playthrough Report can be found here: https://theroadlotr.wordpress.com/

Note that we have included Valiant Sword instead of Sword of Numenor.

The main objective of this deck is simple: pump out as many allies as you possibly can, as fast as you can. Mulligan for Steward of Gondor, but aggressively chase Pillars of the Kings for your opening hand. Play this on your first turn to bump your threat to 40 and draw 4 cards. You will have 1 turn before this window closes, so make the most of it.

This deck’s engine operates in the window between 40 and 49, enabling Soldier of Gondor to fetch more allies than before, boosting Valiant Sword’s attack to 2, and making Veteran of Osgiliath and Angbor the Fearless the best all-round allies in our deck.

Use Soldier of Gondor and Prepare for Battle to fetch out as many allies into your hand for you as you can, accelerating their arrival on the board with Steward of Gondor and Herugrim. Once you have a copy of Citadel Custodian, which may be worth paying 2 or 3 resources for if you consider the next play, exhaust him for A Very Good Tale. His printed cost is 5, so you will almost certainly get out more expensive allies than what you paid for. Every time you get another copy of A Very Good Tale, use your Citadel Custodians to get in your more expensive allies like Knight of Minas Tirith and Faramir.

Faramir and Visionary Leadership aren’t technically needed to get this deck’s willpower going because of the sheer number of allies you should be putting into play. But when you do, you won’t need to worry about questing again. Take care of combat with For Gondor! and keep your threat in check with extra copies of Pillars of the Kings and Favor of the Valar. Just remember you have no healing, so every wound counts.
