This deck is made with the purpose of setting up the ultimate combo. The combo is Path of Need+Legolas+Song of Travel+Háma+Merry+Brand son of Bain+Elven-light+Foe-hammer+The Hammer-stroke+Thicket of Spears. Allow me to explain.
Actually, before I explain, let me alert you that there is a companion deck that helps this one out a lot. You can find it in the fellowship seen above. Now, on to the combo!
During the encounter phase, you may or may not choose to use The Hammer-stroke depending on the number of resources you have available. If you have a lot, use it. If you don't, try to engage as many enemies as possible.
Either way, during the combat phase, one of two things will happen. You will either play Thicket of Spears and prevent all enemies engaged with you from attacking, or, because the location with Path of Need is active, Beregond from the other deck will defend all enemies without exhausting, hopefully with a Spear of the Citadel. Then, it's your turn.
Without exhausting to attack, dual-wielding Blades of Gondolin, Háma will attack with ally Legolas, Merry, Brand son of Bain, Amarthiúl, and a beefy ally of your choice. Song of Travel is attached to Amarthiúl, who has a lot of resources from his ability and Steward of Gondor. Elven-light is in your hand. Now, when Hama exhausts to attack, you will return a Foe-hammer from your discard pile to your hand, discarding the Elven-light. You will attack and destroy the enemy, drawing a card with Legolas and exhausting one of your weapons (which are hopefully numerous) to draw 3 cards with Foe-hammer. You can also put progress onto the current quest equal to the number of Blades of Gondolin you attacked with. Then, you will ready Legolas with Merry's ability, ready the beefy ally with Brand, and pull Elven-light back into your hand to draw a card. That's five cards you just drew. Then, you repeat the process, only stopping the train when a) all the enemies have been destroyed or b) you run out of Weapons to exhaust.
Of course, all this setup does nothing if there's no card worth drawing, so I put in the much-maligned Keeping Count. If you had a copy attached to one of the heroes when you were on your killing rampage, they will have a lot of resources on it and when you attach your second and third copies the attack boost will be truly potent.
This situation of course happens about once every twenty games, but I'd thought I should share this with the community who can probably refine it a bit. The good news about getting the combo set up is that with all the card draw effects, they can be used outside of the combo to get combo peices.
Enjoy the deck!
The sheer audacity of this combo is breathtaking. I salute you, sir.
