It seems like Well Preserved in combination with a ridiculous number of HP could be a powerful combo. This deck is my second attempt at it. Beregond gets 2-3 copies of Citadel Plate and gets super beefy, taking multiple unblocked attacks every round for the low cost of 1 threat. It’s quite fun! :) With Forth, The Three Hunters! as well, the deck has significant healing capacities. You can take an unblocked attack of 4, then see if the shadow card gives any attack bonus. If it does, Beregond takes it. Otherwise, one of the heroes with a mere 5 HP takes it, then steadily heals it over a few rounds.
Initially, I had thought the deck would struggle with not enough resources, so I had several copies of Bartering and an extra Raven-winged Helm. Those two cards with Beregond offer a 2 resource savings, which is great. But the contract provides enough resource savings that it just wasn’t necessary.
From a questing perspective, the deck tops out at 20-25, which is a little low, but seems to be OK. Asfaloth is so good! At minimum, it’s +2 Willpower, but often it does much more than that.
For combat, Aragorn and Glorfindel can work together to take out basically any enemy. Perhaps Fair and Perilous is unnecessary, but often the combat maxes out at 10-13, and it can be useful to have a single character go higher sometimes.
There are 9 cards that draw more cards, so the deck is pretty consistent. I created a simulator to see when I’d expect to draw enough restricted attachments. It’s here: http://irafay.com/cards2.php
Threat in the deck can be a little tight because of The One Ring, but obviously Aragorn goes a long way. Elrond's Counsel is a nice perk too.
Thorongil is a very flexible card in this deck. I’ll sometimes get Aragorn, so he can get another Silver Circlet. Beregond is another nice choice for threat reduction. Finally Aragorn is also a nice choice if you’re dealing with enemies that bounce to the staging area. I haven’t gotten Aragorn yet, but it’s an option too.
Thoughts and questions welcome! The sideboard includes some cards I considered, but didn’t end up using.
