I finally beat Fortress of Nurn using this deck! The * is there because:
- I play ‘sleazy’ mode, i.e. start with an extra resource during setup
- I added Keep Watch during step 2 of setup
I got lucky with how the side quests and 5 Mordor cards were distributed. And only got hit one time with Ulchor’s Rage.
Frodo Baggins and Beregond are so good to reduce your threat. Thurindir is your main quester: he was questing for 9 at the end with Double Back, Keep Watch + 4 encounter side quests + Sword that was Broken. Aragorn quests and readies with the resource from Frodo, and then kills the enemies.
Key allies in my successful run were:
- Henamarth Riversong for scrying
- Honour Guard to save a damage most rounds (he saved my Henamarth that way)
- Vigilant Dúnadan to defend unexhausted against minor enemies
- Mirkwood Explorer to use his action to remove locations from staging
Key attachments were:
- Gondorian Shield to have Beregond block Ulchor
- Dúnedain Remedy to move around my heroes to heal damage (I was very surprised by the effectiveness. Will be using this more in the future.)
You still need a lot of luck to beat this quest, I think. Glad to have this one under my belt.
