TheChad has a newer deck inspired by this one: Single Core Series: Lost in Mirkwood

This is the decklist for The Red Arrow deck I sent in to FFG when I was asked to provide a deck new players might enjoy seeing.

Here is a video of the deck in action: https://youtu.be/IJER6Gtsl9A

I wanted to show that you could take a moment from the books or movies and build a deck around it. I have other versions of the this deck published, this is a modified version I built for FFG.

The deck has a powerful and thematic hero line-up. Denethor can pay for Gúthwinë on turn 1, and still pass a resource to Hirgon. Hirgon reduces the cost of allies if you quest successfully and if Théoden has not had his ability used yet, you get a cost reduction of two if it is a Rohan ally. If you don't need to reduce a Rohan ally by 2, use Theoden to put in a ally for one less.

Mulligan hard for Gúthwinë. Put that on Theoden along with Snowmane. You should always have Rohan allies in your discard pile. A Very Good Tale probably added a couple while it added allies to your board.

The absolute best ally to combo with Gúthwinë is Grimbold. He is Feint with stats. If you are playing a quest that has a nasty enemy that you know you can feint and will have to deal with I would add a third copy of Grimbold.

This deck build is more multiplayer focused with a combat heavy line-up. In solo you might want to add some Westfold Lancer and drop some of the allies with 0 .

Happy Questing!

Bro it's like a Gondor swarm but with Rohan tech! Lots of ways to make the best out of your allies, i love it! Great deck

Thank you @VinnyBrasco!

let me think of a hirgon grey wanderer together with 1 or 2 rohan-gondordeck(s)

"and rohan will answer!"

some thoughts to your deck:

asuming you could be able to squeeze either Déorwine or Elfhelm in for 2 res, i would add (at least) 1 Raiment of War beause the Gondorian Shield are only for heroes, and at theoden, the raiment is better than the shield.

would put in 1-2 Shining Shield denethor with both shields with 40+ has defense of sounds great ^^

with more defense i think you need not this much Honour Guard

so my version would be:

and i would consider to replace the 2 Rider of the Mark with Armored Destrier, better shadowcontrol and more defenses, specially in multiplayer.

Is there a reason why you didn't add Herugrim ? With Snowmane not being restricted there's a slot left for Theoden for even more firepower!

it is interesting you re-balanced the defense aspect. I have found defending to be the least troublesome area of this deck, especially if Grimbold/Guthwine is happening. Your changes would make this a very powerful deck to see across the table from a Haldir deck or Hobbit. Thanks for the suggestions!

@TheChad yea i am thinking of multiplayer, solo you rarely need more defense. i usually play multiplayer, thinking mostly in this direction.

@VinnyBrasco couple reasons, the sword that's in the deck gives Theoden an attack of five, which is plenty since there's usually a Rohan Ally to help him. I'm always short on Spirit resources, so it's tough to come up with the two in the early game to put that on him. And finally, I have trouble squeezing any other card in this deck. If you want to drop a very good tale and therefore drop a few allies you could find room for it. But I think if you watch the video you will see that killing things is not an issue with this build. Great suggestion though, I had considered it at first but found I didn't need it when .I was playing

I think the combo idea with these heroes (+guthwine +snowmane) is great. However, I wonder if there are enough cards that can be used for card draw. Sure, AVGT puts lots of allies into play (thus being a good replacement for direct card draw), but don't you end up with lots of resources and to few cards in your hands?

@Flrbb I talk about that in the video a lot. Short answer: I wish I could fit more card draw in it

This is definitely a fun deck! I played solo against a few willpower friendly quests and it was fun to pilot. :)

Agreed with the opinions above about card draw. It can get pretty sparse but this deck is balanced so well as is.

Excellent work sir!
