I built this deck to try out the new Woodman cards from ALeP and as a partner to my Aragorn/Dale deck to play through the Dream-chaser Campaign mode.

The hero choices were simple as there are only 3 Woodman heroes and they work very well together. Haldan is the primary attacker and rewards you for with cards for playing location attachments. Rowan is the defender and similarly gives extra resources. Widfast also helps with resources by summoning Gavin and spends most of her time questing. I frequently used her ability to have 2 active locations when it was an option.

For the most part the strategy is pretty straightforward - play attachments on locations to reap huge benefits. In my Fellowship this deck definitely leans more towards questing/support with Rowan helping for early defence. The deck skews heavily towards so Haldan is the recipient of most resource generating effects.

The Dream-chaser might be considered the 'location cycle' as it plays with this card type in many ways, meaning there are some really cool interactions for this Woodman deck.

  • The Fate of NĂºmenor guarantees locations will be in play with its Uncharted deck. There's also only one type of location in the main encounter deck making Guarded (Location) attachments easy to play.
  • Temple of the Deceived takes this further by having its Uncharted locations never leave play and having no locations in the encounter deck at all. This is a bit of a double edged sword because it's a non-bo with Elf-stone, Put Off Pursuit and Woodmen's Clearing (for their own abilities, they still synergise with Haldan and Rowan).
  • Widfast's Travel Action is great at dealing with Aflame locations in Raid on the Grey Havens and Grappled locations in The Thing in the Depths.
  • Underwater locations are much more manageable with a Woodmen's Path, and Widfast will let you clear 2 at once.

Gavin is the Creature ally I chose for the first 7 quests, replaced by Loyal Hound for the final 2 when the Gavin Boon shows up. Galion may seem like an odd inclusion but he is excellent at Sailing.

nice use of Alep-cards

would add Hauberk of Mail

is Put Off Pursuit really worth it? with Rowan as good defender and much attack (Haldan + some allies) this deck is capable of handling enemys the normal way

did u consider the Hunting Dogs? 2 actions if a location is explored. chose 1 with Widfast let u play 1 in the first round

Thanks for the comments.

This deck is one half of a Fellowship and Hauberk of Mail is in the other deck. It was played on Rowan often.

Put Off Pursuit is fantastic. There are often times when you'd rather not deal with an enemy and it's particularly strong against ships. The extra location is no problem with Widfast and often desirable given this is a Woodman deck.

The dogs are a good suggestion. I probably wouldn't use them over Gavin, but they could go into the deck, maybe replacing the Eryn Galen Settlers which didn't really get used.
