I'm still testing this deck. So far I've learned that it can be very powerful once set up, but that it takes a while to set up. (Also, it's vulnerable to a swarm of enemies.) But it's fun and sometimes works well.
Mulligan for Legacy of Númenor to get the most out of your first hand.
The first task is to get a Fireside Song and three of the six available readies (x3 Fast Hitch and x3 Unexpected Courage) on (MotK) Rosie Cotton. This allows her to quest, boost her own questing, and then boost either her defense or attack & then use it.
Of course Rosie, as a Messenger of the King hero, can only ready once per phase, so she can't use her boosted combat stats more than once; but Frodo Baggins can be boosted too, and he can ready multiple times. So the next three readies go on him. He could defend twice (as long as one of them was under 3 , since that's all the shielding he has and he can only use his eat-damage-as-threat power once per phase), and then attack twice boosted—what will, by the game's end, be a wild amount.
I am considering swapping in Beravor in place of Erestor. You get to keep your cards from round to round, which would obviously be big. On the other hand you loose Erestor's action, access to Elrond's Counsel (I think I'd swap in The Galadhrim's Greeting), and of course would net one fewer card per round.
Aside from those thoughts, the sideboard would be to shuffle an overly early Will of the West back into the deck (and in general serve as a contingency card—in solo it's good for resource swapping), and Arwen Undómiel would make Frodo a bit sturdier without relying on his ability.
Suggestions for improvements welcomed.
If you swap Galadriel for Frodo, you lose the ability to use Rosie’s boost extra times in combat, but you do gain one of the most insane WP boosts in the game. Nenya can only be used during the quest phase, but since Rosie can double-count all WP boosts while questing, it adds a whopping +8 WP! Fantastic for handling the early game challenges. Galadriel also helps you get set up a bit faster. Not sure if this is better, but it’d be a different approach to consider.
If you wanted, you could include a unique hobbit and Sword-thain to get that ability back in the late game. (Probably want to swap out Erestor if going this route so you don’t discard your pieces.)
(Alternately, you could use ALLY Rosie with Sword-thain and then you could ready her as many times as you wanted each phase, no second Hobbit required. But this is much slower and less consistent.)
