Everyone thinks Rossiel is useless. The common idea is that she could always be replaced by another hero and it would work better. Well that’s true pretty much all of the time. However, I made this deck to maximize Rossiel and use her as the defender she was meant to be. Note that it definitely only works on quests with common traits for enemies, but it’s still pretty versatile within that. It’s not the best deck in the world, but it’s fun to use and shines even better in multiplayer with a strong sentinel and ranged hero.
Rossiel’s problem is that the two cards that are most commonly used to get cards into the victory display: Leave No Trace and None Return, require you to already be able to defeat tricky enemies and locations. This deck circumvents that by using Fatty Bolger and Out of the Wild to get them into the victory display way easier. Once Fatty has used his ability, switch him out for Brand son of Bain. This deck also uses a few other overlooked cards like Raven-winged Helm and Elven Mail. These make Rossiel a stalwart defender, which I believe is her main strength as a hero.
How to play: you’ll have to survive for three turns and then explode on the fourth. Mulligan for Strider and put it on Fatty. If you can’t find it, use At the End of All Things to damage Rossiel and ready Fatty after Fatty commits to the quest until an enemy is revealed and you can use his ability. The key attachment to have after Strider is Horn-call of Buckland. When you flip At the End of All things on turn 4, grab Helm of Secrecy and whatever Restricted attachment you need to flip Forth, The Three Hunters!. At this point, you should be set for just about anything. You’ll have plenty of willpower between the two heroes, a strong defender and attacker. Action economy is a little tough, but Magic Ring and Lembas will also help with this.
I have been tinkering with this idea for a while and this is the best I’ve come up with. I’m definitely open to suggestions on making it better (as long as you don’t tell me to take out Rossiel!)

Jun 11, 2025just in case you overlooked it: you start with a thread of 25 (+8 for At the End of All Things and +4 for Beyond the Original Bargain -2 for Fatty Bolger ) so no shenanigans with secrecy and payed normally the Out of the Wild that is needed early is quite not payable. |

Jun 11, 2025Nice way for optimizing Rossiel. I would say nevertheless that it's a pity that a character is so weak it needs many crutches to walk, and here three contracts (Alep included) to finally begin to hope for a start of a cool Rossiel deck. Even if it's hard to implement a Rossiel deck, I like the challenge and have won with her even in some demanding scenarios, in choosing to increase their defense without running to give her just +2 wp. I like to play her in classic Three Hunters contract. I will wait here for some concrete and detailed questlogs with that deck before trying it myself ;-) |

Doesn't Helm of Secrecy only allow you to switch out for a hero with equal or lower threat cost? Fatty is 7 and Brand is 10. But the idea of the deck is fun.
