Eomer: Quester and destroyer of evil.

Eomer is perhaps one of my favorite characters in middle-earth. I've not had it long, but his leadership card has been a bit underwhelming. I wanted to find a way to make him powerful. I figured the Three Hunter's contract was perhaps the way to go after concluding I could boost his questing and use Herugrim with him. Seastan has an amazing deck which I've used as inspiration. While there is basically no making better decks than Seastan, I wanted to add a different flare. My goal was to boost Eomer's and to take ultimate advantage of his ability relying on questing. It's been a fun deck to build and play. It has performed surprisingly well on quests like Into Ithilien. There was one time I never even flipped to contract to side B and went through all four stages for the heck of it. Ideally you get to side B turn one ASAP, but this deck has allowed for exceptions.

Eomer - His role is quester and attacker. The goal is to get Herugrim, Celebrían's Stone, and Firefoot on him. Of course, Spear of the Mark can be used until you have all three. He will also get Steward, the Dúnedain Quests and Song of Hope (if you choose to go this route). Yes, Steward of Gondor is necessary in this deck and I'll explain why. Eomer will use it to power the Song of Hope giving him massive with Herugrim, use the extra resources for the Dunedain cards, and of course his ability requires a resource. Firefoot will then carry tons of damage over to another enemy engaged with you. He should have up to 7 including the Dúnedain Quests, Celebrían's Stone, and the contract boost. His is 12 once all powered up.

Eowyn - We know her deal. She'll get the Golden Shield, and Windfola. She'd also benefit from a Gondorian Shield and Spear of the Mark. Unexpected Courage will help with her ability's action advantage and blocking. It is good to use her for blocking so Firefoot can deal damage to an enemy engaged with you where Fastred knocks them up into the staging area. This way you can engage more than one enemy per round and control the staging area.

Fastred - Our dedicated defender. Get the Raiment of War out turn one. He's now got 2 restricted attachments and boosted and HP. A Gondorian Shield and the Dúnedain Warnings are ideal as well. As Seastan suggested, he could benefit from Snowmane to also quest. You will rarely ever quest unsuccessfully.

Power rounds - There are tons of potential ways to achieve them. Give Grappling Hook to Eomer or Eowyn (when using her ability in a pinch). Eomer's actually increases his attack so you can't go wrong. Captains of the West will also boost Eomer's and and allow he and Eowyn to remain ready. Astonishing Speed has the same effect without the readying, but can now be applied to Fastred as well. Song of Hope will give Eomer more boosts and a way to dump all those extra resources.

I do not own all of the cards in the game. Ideally I would add something like Steed of Imladris or even The One Ring (the darn deluxe is sold out everywhere!). As time goes on I plan to modify it.

I also run the one ring-less version of this trio with the contract and it's fine, but sometimes you're forced to mulligan perfectly acceptable hands in order to get your hands on Raiment of War. I think Dunedain Quest and Captains of the West are just not enough value in this archetype (unless you're in multiplayer full of Noble heroes). Steward is just a waste of card here too, IMO (you'll be constantly running out of your cheap cards anyway, and the contract will generate 5-7 resources) This gives you 7 slots to optimise the deck if you're into it. I run Keen as Lances as a flexible threat control/draw, you'll usually have a ton of spare resources in the late game.

@MadaoMadaoThanks for sharing your thoughts. There are certainly some hands I wish I didn't have to let go due to absence of RoW. I can see your point about the DQuests. However, Steward works so well with Song of Hope (and essentially achieves the same thing as the DQuests) it's never a waste of resources. It also helps fuel the power rounds with Captains of the West. I don't technically own Keen as Lances (I sometimes use it on OCTGN) but I would absolutely agree with you there. The only drawback would be, as you said, late game you don't need resources. Generally you dont need cards then either, and Fastred is usually taking care of threat reduction. I'll have to try Keen as Lances out in OCTGN though!

I really like Captains of the West because both Eomer and Eowyn stay ready which is essentially a huge action advantage. The WP boost helps Eomer's Herugrim and allows him to attack again later, allowing you to engage one more enemy. This can be blocked by Eowyn with Golden Shield because she will already be ready. With a UC on Eomer he can even engage another enemy, defend, and attack again.
