Definitely my favorite version of the Silvan deck archetype. I made a couple adjustments to diversify the ally base -- somewhat to make it more of a toolbox and also for the fun factor. I want to try another version of the deck with Argalad, Light of Valinor, and Mirkwood Long-knife, so that deck might be coming at some point.

I know that this deck has largely been "solved," but I find that adding the old standby -- Sneak Attack + Gandalf and the Mirror of Galadriel + Silver Harp combo allows some serious shenanigans to constantly be cycling through your deck for events. Magic Ring isn't a bad shout, either, seeing as Galadriel and Island Amid Perils should be more than enough to handle your gain. As such, once you're up and running, your bouncing events should almost always pull back Galadhrim Minstrell and/or Galadhrim Weaver to keep the deck full of events to pull with the Mirror.

In solo, you can manage the board long enough to get operational by spewing out allies early with the help of Captain's Wisdom and O Lórien!. Don't be afraid to keep flooding the board until you can get the Mirror/Harp engine running. If you prefer, Tighten Our Belts is also a good candidate if you don't want to exhaust Celeborn or Galadriel.

In multiplayer, someone else will almost always be able to handle the early combat, which allows you to prioritize the perfect set-up.

Ideally, you want to get a jumpstart with one piece of the Mirror/Harp combo in your opening hand or an early O Lórien!. Other than that, just remember that you're almost always trying to make sure that at least one copy of all your bouncing events are in your deck so you can keep grabbing them with the mirror or minstrel, then putting them back with the weaver.

I worked on a similar deck these days and I was quite unimpressed by the combination of heros. Haldir's ability without a weapon didn't help me a lot compared to decks where I have a Ranger Spear, a Dúnedain Mark or even a Bow of the Galadhrim. My conclusion was that Haldir can't be my third hero without these cards, but they eat important slots.

Can you explain me what make him work for you?

@tickler, sure thing.

Haldir of Lórien is undoubtedly better with a Weapon attached (you can pair this thing up with a heavy build and go nuts), but he's great in this deck for the following reasons:

A) He's Silvan, so if you're wanting to use all the same trait for your heroes, that's something.

B) Access to , which gives you the ability to pay for The Tree People and Galadhrim Minstrel -- pretty much the two most important cards in the deck

C) I suppose any hero is a third option (folks are running Bifur quite a bit and grabbing Unlikely Friendship, along with some innate resource smoothing) but I'd refer to point A. Regarding his ability, I think it's rarely used in a solo game, which is fine, as the rest of his stat line is more than serviceable (2 and 3 makes him flexible early). However, on those turns where you don't engage anyone and there's something sitting up there in the staging area at 2 , he can ping them until your threat gets cranked up enough to finally have to pull it down, or if you need to optionally engage it just to get out of the staging area. In my personal experience, this happens more often than you'd think -- plenty of enemies sit in the staging area 30+ engagement cost and 2 in the first couple turns, and you're not ready, so he's great to either help quest over the top of them or to just pop a damage token on them. And all of this isn't even getting into how awesome he can be in multiplayer, as his action window comes after shadow cards are dealt, which frees him up to blast something across the table (while loaded up with attachments and such).

Ultimately, I find that, while a pretty balanced deck type, especially with the inclusion of Gandalf, it's not for every quest, so ymmv. I think Haldir is dope, though, especially in multiplayer.

I agree with the points above. In solo you can peck away at a high threat enemy. Many have 2 defense and 5 hitpoints. Sneak in Gandalf for 4 damage, Haldir kills it. If you want a Weapon with this build, throw in some Long-knives.

@TheChadGiven that it doesn't look like Haldir is questing I might suggest Dúnedain Mark over Mirkwood Long-knife.

@Seastan, I tend to agree with Dúnedain Mark, as I generally tend to have more spare resources than ones.

Thanks a lot for your explanation!

I am looking for a Silvan too, I like tribal decks. So I think I will run him with three marks and two spears and drop other things. Getting him to attack 5 or 6 should make him very solid both in solo and multiplayer games. :)

@tickler In the past, I have used Elrond where this deck has Haldir of Lórien. He combines well with Galadhrim Healer and Daughter of the Nimrodel, as well as Dúnedain Remedy if you have space for it. In multiplayer, he boosts everybody's healing without spending any actions or resources, which is wonderful.

As a bonus, Elrond can use his resources to pay for Galadhon Archer or even Legolas!

@eldub Have you considered running Unexpected Courage at all? I personally love having Unexpected Courage on Galadriel.

I'd have probably stuck with Elrond also - the resource smoothing is a plus, but his healing buff combined with some of those Silvan allies would be invaluable in some scenarios. And stat wise, he's solid too. One snag, we add another 3 starting threat pushing us into the 30's.

To make Haldir of Lórien really good I would fear you'd have to cut out too much in the deck that's already good. And being a theme snob I'd want to use Mirkwood Long-knife over a Dúnedain Mark, but that's just me, I can see where the argument is for it. Who's to say occasionally you won't use Haldir to quest with WP 3?

@Mattastrophic, yeah, this deck had Unexpected Courage in it forever because of what you just said. However, I find myself at a premium for slots and have also had the recent revelation that I don’t necessarily rely on Nenya in solo play, so I don’t require double duty from Galadriel most turns.

@The Broken Meeple, for sure! He could be slotted in
