Ecthelion III 197

This is a multiplayer deck where the main idea is to get a strong sentinel Vigilant Dúnadan out as fast as possible to defend for the entire table.

The key cards required for this combo are the Vigilant Dúnadan himself, ally Arwen Undómiel, and the side quest Keep Watch. Once Keep Watch is in the victory display and these two allies are in play, the Vigilant Dúnadan can essentially defend for 4 sentinel without exhausting. This can usually be accomplished around turn 2 or 3.

The three cards you're looking for in your opening hand are Vigilant Dúnadan, Elf-stone, and Arwen Undómiel. Thurindir will bring Keep Watch into your opening hand automatically, so you don't have to look for that. Círdan the Shipwright's ability will help you fish for these cards ASAP, as will the several copies of Daeron's Runes, Deep Knowledge, and Heed the Dream.

Ideally, Keep Watch is played and completed on the first or second turn. Your heroes have 10 between them, so this should be easily accomplished. Depending on when you are the first player, you want to time Elf-stone properly so you can play the Vigilant Dúnadan for free. If this is impractical (you aren't the first player until turn 4, there isn't an active location when you are the first player, etc.), then A Good Harvest can allow you to pay for that Vigilant Dúnadan the hard way on turn 2.

So you have Arwen Undómiel, the Vigilant Dúnadan, and Keep Watch completed. Now what? The rest of the deck is designed to bolster that Vigilant Dúnadan to absurd levels of using every trick available--and yes, that does mean Spare Hood and Cloak shenanigans. Arwen Undómiel and the Vigilant Dúnadan can swap Spare Hood and Cloaks, and if you have an odd number of them, the Long Lake Traders are available to make sure Arwen has one more at the start of each round. Narya provides more defense to the Vigilant Dúnadan and readies Arwen Undómiel to pass more Cloaks. The Wild Stallion also adds defense to the Vigilant Dúnadan. Furthermore, Honour Guard and Warden of Healing are there to provide further longevity to the Invincible Dunadan.

Once the Spare Hood and Cloak loop is set up, the maximum for the Vigilant Dúnadan is 7, not counting the attack reduction of Keep Watch and assuming the other players don't pack some extra Cloaks to give you for added ridiculousness.

-----Starting Condition: 2 Cloaks on Arwen, 1 on Vigilant Dunadan.-----

Native 2 .

Wild Stallion gives +1 .

Arwen and Long Lake Trader exhaust to quest, giving +1 .

The Long Lake Trader exhausts to send his Cloak back to Arwen.

No Hauberk of Mail or Raiment of War? Those would seem to be reasonable options, and the former certainly easy to play with Narya.
