(just a deck idea based on limited collection of cards I have available; currently untested)
- Denethor, Henamarth Riversong, Rumour from the Earth for spying on encounter deck when needed
- Fix the encounter deck draws by using Shadow of the Past or The Hidden Way in combination with above cards
- For example, in a two player game, play Rumour from the Earth then Shadow of the Past on a useless encounter card = you know exactly what you're encountering
- Gimli + Citadel Plate + Dwarven Axe is a killer with damage on him. Combine him with Support of the Eagles for added power; Quick Strike to knock off baddies before shadow card draws; Grappling Hook to get big bursts of willpower for plowing through quests
- Éowyn is the consistent quester that lowers initial threat, and has useful burst attack when really needed
- If drawn, Dark Knowledge goes on Denethor for getting more intel
- Meneldor + Eagles of the Misty Mountains + Flight of the Eagles puts a free eagle helper within encounter deck, buffs EoMM by turning Meneldor facedown, triggers Meneldor's exit response (for 4 progress tokens total with entrance+exit), AND allows Meneldor to be played again to redo the combo
- Erebor Record Keeper gets Gimli more attacks (for 1 Lore resource)
- Ghân-buri-Ghân = extra questing support, and a way to ease pain of travelling to crappy locations
