I've only used this deck in multiplayer context - paired with a leadership deck like this one: https://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/13900. Boromir and Visionary Leadership add global bonuses that give some flexibility to this deck. Here's how it's supposed to work:

  • questing: in context of Heirs of Numenor we will get many siege and battle quests mixed in with the regular ones. This deck won't be able to do it on its own given that the allies usually have 0 willpower.
  • defending: Beregond, Defender of Rammas, Gondorian Spearman. Defender of Rammas should get Raiment of War while the other two mentioned should have Spear of the Citadel to maximise the damage output
  • attacking: both Hirgon and Mablung are versatile enough to both quest and attack. Armed with some attachments like Warrior Sword or Captain of Gondor they can contribute a lot. They are the primary targets for Foe-hammer and Goblin-cleaver
  • resource: Horn of Gondor, Hirgon and Mablung will allow for generating new resources or applying discount to buying allies. Beregond will get some attachments on him for free. Master Ironsmith and Soldier of Dol Amroth will also provide some discounts.
  • healing: this deck does not have anything in terms of healing, but Honour Guard can cancel some incoming damage. Raven-winged Helm is supposed to go on Beregond to keep him alive.
  • shadow cards: no help, just deal with it.
  • treacheries: no help, just deal with it.
  • card draw: Foe-hammer should help
  • threat: nothing here to manage threat, we'll see how it goes. We have some cards with valour responses and this deck is supposed to engage most of the enemies in multiplayer so having high threat without reaching the limit should work

Tested this on Siege of Cair Andros and it worked pretty well. I've used the abilities of all heroes, but Mablung armed with Warrior Sword, Rohan Warhorse and Gondorian Fire proved to be a repeatable solution for beating difficult enemies. Gets a resource you can spend on Gondorian Fire every phase you engage an enemy.

Definitely does not work as a solo deck, besides heroes there's almost no willpower available. That's fine since this was envisioned as a support deck to the more questing-oriented primary deck.
