Durins_Father 3039

This deck was made with Hunt for the Dreadnaught in mind. If you want to see it in action against that quest alongside 12 other decks, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCm7Ss-7AQQ

This is not a regular Prince Timrahil deck, nor is it a regular Silvan deck. This deck merges the two together for a Timrahilvan deck that was quite popular back in the day. Since then, we have gotten some new cards that work well with the archetype. The Council of the Wise contract is one of them. I usually run this in my Silvan deck, since they have so many free events and allies that you can generally get away with Council of the Wise. This deck merges the two, allowing you to only have single copies of cards in your deck, but Imrahil being able to bring all of them into play from the start of the game with his ability.

I say "at the beginning of the game" as this deck was designed for the Hunt for the Dreadnaught scenario where players can start with different ships. This deck makes use of the Eithiliant, which gives each hero +1 on the basic side (+2 when upgraded) and lets the player choose a hero to gain all the traits of another hero they control. In this case, Imrahil gains Celeborn's Silvan trait, setting him up without having to search for Elf-friend.

The deck can also work with the Twilight's Call, where your cards don't require resource matches. That is really useful for Silvans, especially if you haven't found O Lórien! early. The deck tends to run The Storm Comes as well, just to be able to get the resource match on at least 1 ally per round, but a partner deck ran the side-quest for me, so that was no problem.

Speaking of side-quests, Gather Information is critical in a Council of the Wise deck, as it allows you to find your key attachments quickly. For this deck, you absolutely want to find Nenya as fast as you can. That gives you access to Lore and allows Galadriel to use her boosted willpower (if you have the Eithiliant) to quest hard. Mulligan for this, and use Galadriel+the contract to draw through the deck until you find it. I also included the Mirror and Silver Harp combo, so you can scry 10 cards deep and keep that card in your hand. It is quite useful to filter events from your deck, while keeping the big allies for Imrahil in the deck.

The deck is a little weird, as the contract wants you to draw events, but you want to keep as many allies in your hand as possible for Imrahil. He has some big targets in the deck that are worth their weight in gold when you find them with Imrahil's ability. Azain is nice late-game as well if you have extra Tactics resources and need some splash damage. If you happen to draw into these big allies, you can wait until you find Drinking Song to shuffle them into the deck again. This is great if you have a hand full of allies and want some more events or attachments.

Readying attachments are mostly meant for Imrahil, who can get pretty tanky with Gondorian Shield and Ancestral Armor and can also kill enemies on his own with Quick Strike if needed. He can also take Light of Valinor, since he starts with the Silvan keyword. Celeborn is also a decent target, but I found that he doesn't do much besides questing and buffing allies.

The deck is great at attacking with Ranged, and has enough allies to return with the different events. Try to recycle Galadhrim Weaver as much as possible to keep events in your deck, as you only get one copy of each card. Will of the West is more recursion in case you need it towards the second half of the game. Should either card be discarded from your deck, then Dwarven Tomb can help you retrieve it for free (with the contract).

The deck does well against the Dreadnaught, though the Pillage keyword is very tricky. The deck wants to avoid combat, but help around the table with Ranged and even some Sentinel defenses if needed. There are a lot of fun tricks in the game that you can draw into, and remember to use the contract as often as you can. Direct damage can be a pain for this deck, but you'll have healing with the Silvan Tracker, and damage cancellation with the Honour Guard guard against any Archery.

It is not a complete solution to the Dreadnaught, but you can have a lot of fun while playing it. Hope that you all enjoy the deck and take it for a spin sometimes. For other scenarios, I will recommend putting in Elf-friend, as that will be an important attachment to get. I have also done some deck testing against Into the Pit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiixYM699W8 and Foundations of Stone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRWCGiNYULk if you want to see it perform outside of the Dreadnaught quest. Good luck with it, and I hope to hear your reactions to the deck!
