Glamcrist 1213

There was a legend once, of six heroes who led an unbreakable company of fourteen against the entire might of Mordor.

The Gate Guard reached 12 resources on The Black Gate but it had four major flaws: 1) an inability to deal with large swaths of damage 2) running out of blocks in later turns 3) threat increases from Hour of Doom 4) No threat reduction

Starting with GreenWizard's brilliant suggestion to switch Doom Hangs Still with Ever Onward, I started to wonder what could be done with the resources saved. I decided to answer the aforementioned flaws with: 1) Vigilant Guard + Mithril Shirt on Grimbeorn 2) Hour of Wrath 3) Out of the Wild + The Door is Closed 4) Switch CĂrdan the Shipwright for Galadriel

The Peace and Thoughts would have to come out to make room for the Out of WIld and the Door is Closed. So how would I get enough draw? Could my favorite sword Glamdring fill this requirement? I had long considered taking the Shield off of Grimbeorn in favor of more attack, so now it was time to test that theory. If there's ever a quest where a guarded weapon would pay back it's dividends it would be The Black Gate Opens.

But then there was the question of recursion. So I went to my go to dwarf Nori. But having to get back, at the very minimum, two cards a turn (Ever Onward and Hour of Wrath) without Narya required another answer. This, like all great questions, was answered by Galion and his magical Spare Hood and Cloak. But to return it every turn to the Lord of the Spare Hood and Cloak required the addition of another unsung hero - Long Lake Trader. And why not Sword-thain Nori to protect him from Hour of Doom? That way White Tower Watchman could be switched for the far more cost effective Envoy of Pelargir, who could send messages to and from the battle. And being a hero meant Nori could have an Unexpected Courage, if only for a time, before Bartering it back to Grimbeorn. He could also help pay for Hour of Wrath.

But eventually, as more tech will be needed to be expended for longer quest phases (The Door is Closed, Sterner than Steel, etc.), even more cards would have to come back every turn. At this point, the Nazguls will have to take our threat to 80 because then the Hour of Wrath valour action can be played and NORI IS A HERO. BAM! Nori and Grimbeorn with Glamdring can buzz saw their way through every enemy, drawing a card from the top of the discard pile with each slain foe.

This was indeed the longest and most epic solo game of LotR LCG I've ever played. This deck was originally called Glambeorn, but I felt very strongly the title needed to be changed to reflect their achievement.

Few Late Game Strategy Tips: -The Door is Closed! the first Hour of Doom. Hopefully the Mouth will attack shortly after. In those action windows, The White Council and Gleowine draw The Door is Closed! back into hand your for when the second Hour of Doom shows up. The third should be in your victory display from Out of the Wild. With Galadriel your threat will most likely raise only one a turn. -After you draw back your discard pile, you can now play Proud Hunters, stack it with Nori, and draw it back with Grimbeorn every time you kill an enemy. Put these resources onto Beravor, who is also attacking because of Hour of Wrath. She will need it for late turn super healing with the Warden.

Astounding, I am really interested in seeing the video for this one too if you are ever able to release it.

This is wild... watching the 12 Resource game blew me away. And you've managed to more than double that in a quest that becomes exponentially more punishing each round.

All hail Galion, bearer of the Royal Cloak of Win.

@GreenWizard Glad to hear it! @Alonewolf87 It's a very long video and I lost my mind somewhere circa turn 20 so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet haha. @Imrahil13 It's pronounced Gal-Leon
