Wandering Ranger 55

From such men the Lord Denethor chose his forayers. To harry the Orcs and other enemies that roamed between the Ephel Dúath and the River. –The Two Towers

I have always found traps to be one of the most enjoyable but weakest archetypes to play thematically and I always wanted to have that feeling of trapping, sniping and generally being a nuisance to the encounter deck. Traps are one of the weaker factions with not much defense and a tough time questing over the threat of the enemies you might leave in staging. One day I was messing around with Prince Imrahil and found he could provide a more thematic approach (rather than Éowyn) to dealing with the problems traps face. Being able to devote more of you resources to playing traps and messing with the staging area and not having to worry about defenders or attackers as much.

Combat

Despite it's lack of defense this deck dose not do badly during combat with all of the helpful traps and trap related events, it reduces the need to have a proper defender and with Imrahil or his ally doing most of the defensive work. Ranger Spikes and Forest Snare allow you to mostly ignore the trapped enemies. Entangling Nets reducing the enemies by two makes most attacks trivial and Ambush attaching to an enemy and readying Celador makes it easy to kill the enemy before they attack you and with your Ranger weapons and with a Valour of the North providing a good or bonus and Forest Patrol dealing direct damage, it makes the enemies easy to defeat. Honour Guard can save your 1 allies or do a bit of small scale defending, well your Defenders of Rammas should be getting a fair bit of use. Imrahil can bounce Guardian of Ithilien and Mablung to ignore enemies for a round and maybe even trigger a trap.

Questing and Playing Cards

Seasoned Forager is quite essential for playing cards as you will be wanting to trigger Imrahil's ability as much as possible. Anborn can be used to keep recycling traps and can be played cheaper with Spring the Trap, which is also used to get Faramir into play. There are not many good questing allies in the deck so he can be fairly helpful but has not been required in my experience as all of the heroes have good . Your threat and healing should mostly be controlled by Morwen Steelsheen combined with Prince Imrahil but Celador and Warden of Healing can help too if the need arises.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my deck and reading my write up, feedback, suggestions and improvements are greatly appreciated, Thanks.
