DECK NAME - The Seventh Army
OVERVIEW - The deck name is in reference to deck I used for Battle of the Five Armies called The Sixth Army. That deck used Boromir instead of Thalin but was very similar in its makeup. The idea here is to kill each and every enemy the round they come out. Gandalf with 3X Sneak Attack and 3X Tome of Atanatar helps us to keep our threat low but also pushes card draw and deals helpful direct damage.
HEROES
- Beravor - attach the Book of Mazarbul; quest without exhausting and then draw cards
- Prince Imrahil - attach Steward of Gondor and Tome of Atanatar
- Thalin - usually will quest every round and deal his helpful direct damage
STRATEGY
- OPENING HAND - generally looking for Steward of Gondor first, but Sneak Attack w Gandalf is great as it Henamarth Riversong and card draw
- STAGE 1 - turtle on stage 1 until you have all your allies out; destroy each enemy that comes out each round and clear active locations; use Henamarth Riversong to plan accordingly
- STAGE 2 - since there's no Goblins in play when you advance you can kill Overseer Maurûl when he engages you; then quest past the stage next round with Faramir's help
- IMPORTANT! - be careful of chump attacks as shadow cards can discard the defending ally from play and then you have an undefended attack; 3X DĂșnedain Watcher, Feint, The Wizards's Voice and Gondorian Spearman can eliminate this as an issue
- DIRECT DAMAGE - use 3X Expecting Mischief (Henamarth Riversong allows us to use it wisely) and Fresh Tracks to set things up in our favor; sometime Fresh Tracks can be used to hang an enemy in staging early on if we don't have Feint or The Wizards's Voice; killing Orc Hornblower with Thalin + Expecting Mischief is the dream; no surge or when revealed
- OUTLANDS ALLIES - early desperation chumps but even better an eventual 18 if all in play
- Gondorian Spearman - try and use direct damage effect such that the enemy has one health left then defend with spearman to eliminate the enemy with no shadow revelation
- Henamarth Riversong - clutch in this quest; allows us to not over or underquest; also helps us to know when to play Expecting Mischief
- Miner of the Iron Hills - save for Watchful Eyes treachery; only 3 in the deck so all 3 Miners are useful
- Tome of Atanatar - this is the first time I've used in solo progression; this card rocks in this quest and makes it a virtual cakewalk
