Thorin Oakenshield sets out to solve the riddle of his father's ring, enlisting the aid of his cousin and top advisor.

Setup:

Ring of Thrór goes on Thorin, who can make use of his 3 and 3 right out of the gate, while spamming attachments.

Mulligan for 0-cost cards, and save these for winning the The Riddle-game (all treacheries are 0 ).

Early Game:

Quest with Thorin and Bifur, reserve Dain for defense. You should quickly acquire some helpful tools through Well-Equipped and the Ring.

Build-out:

Dain: Ancestral Armor + Armor of Erebor + anything else helpful Thorin: 2x Dwarrowdelf Axe + Song of Hope + anything else helpful Bifur: Celebrían's Stone + anything else helpful

Play tips:

  • Make sure you keep a 0-cost card in your, and ideally a sample of 1-3 cost cards as well, to win the Riddle-game. Use Shadow of the Past if needed to set up a known shadow card for Hungry Creature.
  • Discard from the top of your deck liberally, as in any mining deck, but have a Dwarf Pipe on hand to cycle back your Will of the West, Erebor Hammersmith, or Erebor Record Keeper. Note that Spare Pipe can shuffle them off the bottom.
  • Any resources from Hidden Cache usually go to Dáin Ironfoot, unless Bifur needs them to use the Erebor Record Keeper.
  • All hero readying goes on Dain or Thorin.
  • You can use all Spare Pipe to boost Thorin's so that he can take some undefended attacks as needed. With 3x Self Preservation in the deck, it's not a huge deal.
  • One you have 5 dwarves, Thorin will generate too many resources. Funnel these to Bifur for ERK or use for Song of Hope.
  • Avoid attachment-hate quests!
