Devaresh 2138
The Dunedain are hands down one of my favorite peoples from Tolkien's middle earth and so when I first started playing a few months ago I immediately began experimenting with their archetype.
The razor's edge balance of how many enemies you can hold has been enormously fun and this deck has been my favorite one so far. It is absolutely a combat deck and so you will want healing/questing support. Alternatively you could substitute in some Warden of Healing if needed. I would consider cutting Dunedain Pathfinder first if that would be the case.
This deck is focused on sentinel defense which means you do not need to worry about where the enemies engage to fulfill your role. This allowed me to more comfortably leave out Halbarad hero.
The main defenders are of course Beregondand Aragorn who should each receive Blood of NĂºmenor and Armored Destrier. Aragon also gets Sword that was Broken and Heir of Valandil. Steward of Gondor goes on Aragorn since the cost cards are almost never going to cost you thanks to discounts.
With shadow cancellation from A Burning Brandand Armored Destrier I typically find myself unworried about how many enemies I leave alive. That means I usually end up playing allies for free every round using Heir of Valandil and reaping enormous bonuses on my dunedain allies like Guardian of Arnor and Fornost Bowman.
This deck is surprisingly flexible. It can also contribute greatly to questing late game thanks to Sword that was Broken and can help mitigate some threat with cards like Wait no Longer and a well timed Hands Upon the Bow from a Fornost Bowman. Beregond's threat reduction once a round also helps a surprising amount to slow the clock for yourself and others.
Overall this deck makes you feel like a super hero of middle earth, swooping in and defending your friends from incoming attacks. Fear not the dark lord, I am your shield!
