"Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn, look to the East."
At last Aragorn stood above the great gates, heedless of the darts of the enemy. As he looked forth he saw the eastern sky grow pale. Then he raised his empty hand, palm outward in token of parley. The Orcs yelled and jeered. ‘Come down! Come down!’ they cried. ‘If you wish to speak to us, come down! Bring out your king! We are the fighting Uruk-hai. We will fetch him from his hole, if he does not come. Bring out your skulking king!’ ‘The king stays or comes at his own will,’ said Aragorn. ‘Then what are you doing here?’ they answered. ‘Why do you look out? Do you wish to see the greatness of our army? We are the fighting Uruk-hai.’ ‘I looked out to see the dawn,’ said Aragorn.
“There suddenly upon a ridge appeared a rider, clad in white, shining in the rising sun. Over the low hills the horns were sounding. Behind him, hastening down the long slopes, were a thousand men on foot; their swords were in their hands. Amid them strode a man tall and strong. His shield was red. As he came to the valley’s brink, he set to his lips a great black horn and blew a ringing blast. ‘Erkenbrand!’ the Riders shouted. ‘Erkenbrand!’ ‘Behold the White Rider!’ cried Aragorn. ‘Gandalf is come again!’ ‘Mithrandir, Mithrandir!’ said Legolas."
The Day’s Rising
A Forth, The Three Hunters! deck featuring Dúnhere, Erkenbrand, and Gandalf
Why These Three?
Dúnhere thrives in the early game. With the right weaponry, he can pick off enemies in the staging area before they strike. His role in this deck mirrors the silent riders of the dawn — patient, deadly, precise.
Erkenbrand stands unyielding, taking the brunt of shadowed evil and striking back. He synergizes brilliantly with readying tech like Inspiring Presence, and his built-in shadow cancelation keeps the hunters fearless.
Gandalf is the keystone. With Wizard Pipe, Flame of Anor, and Gandalf's Staff, he enables both sphere smoothing and powerful burst effects. His neutrality unlocks all sphere attachments in the deck, making him the most versatile hero of the three.
Together, they embody the core of the contract: no allies — just power, resilience, and synergy through attachments.
How the Contract Shines
Forth, The Three Hunters! is perfect for these heroes:
The willpower boost per restricted attachment lets you turn all three into strong questers — even Dúnhere and Erkenbrand.
Action advantage from the contract (1x per round per hero) is golden for Erkenbrand’s defense loops and Gandalf’s utility.
Each hero can carry multiple restricted attachments, creating a trio of fully geared threats — weapons for Dúnhere, armor for Erkenbrand, and versatile tools for Gandalf.
The contract turns your deck into a tight, synergistic engine with few moving parts and maximum impact. No allies means no chaff. Every card counts.
Key Attachments
Golden Belt, Spear of the Mark, Rohan Warhorse, Herugrim – Dúnhere’s arsenal.
Golden Belt, Golden Shield, Raven-winged Helm, Ancestral Armor – Erkenbrand becomes a fortress.
Golden Belt, Gandalf's Staff, Wizard Pipe, Shadowfax, Flame of Anor – Gandalf is a burst engine.
Woodmen's Outpost – pairs beautifully with Dúnhere’s staging attacks.
The Day's Rising – the perfect callback to the story, and great economy when heroes defend and kill.
Support Events
Open the Armory – fetch your restricted pieces early.
A Test of Will, The Galadhrim's Greeting – staple control and tempo tools.
Inspiring Presence – stats for your defensive duo.
Word of Persuasion – spot Gandalf to steal an enemy.
Theme and Impact
This deck feels like the arrival of Gandalf at Helm’s Deep. You start under pressure, you grow steadily stronger, and then your fully geared trio unleashes a relentless counteroffensive.
No reinforcements. No distractions. Just three hunters. And The Day's Rising.

Aug 03, 2025Getting a favorite for the theme and write up alone, though the deck looks fun as well! |
Aug 04, 2025nice thematic deck would include Foe-hammer and some readying for Erkenbrand the Armored Destrier perhaps a Word of Command think it did not need 3 Flame of Anor and the Woodmen's Outpost i have also made a The Day's Rising - deck but it might not be so cool as yours ;) but it is original content if interested: ringsdb.com |
Aug 04, 2025Woodmen's Outpost for Foe Hammer is indeed optional. Armored Destrier and 2 Unexpected courgae (though that card is all to easy) for Falme of Anor to have more options to ready Erkenbrand is a good suggestion. What prevents me from Unexpected courage and why I chose for Flame of Arnor is the balace of the costs. But happy you people like this thematic fundeck. |
Shame on you Pete Jackson for changing Erkenbrand into Eomer!
