GrandSpleen 1413

Multiplayer combat deck with Palantir for scry, to help with planning, as well a card draw.

Palantir goes on Legolas. Gimli can ready him with his ability. This feels like a more fruitful usage of a Legolas action than you'd get if you use his Spirit version, which would commit him to the quest for 1 willpower rather than scrying 3 cards.

Aragorn lowers threat, as can Gandalf. You could put Favor of the Valar in if there is a Gandalf hero on the table.

Legolas and Aragorn can attack. Aragorn could possibly receive an Armored Destrier as well if needed, but there is nothing in the deck to boost his defense. Gimli is expected to receive Steward of Gondor, Armored Destrier, and a Dwarven Shield. The extra copies of the shield are unfortunately dead cards, but 3 copies are included to ensure earlier/more reliable access. You're bound to wind up with some unneeded cards, which can be fodder for Trollshaw Scout.

Interrogation with Ranger Spikes either lets you use Palantir with lower threat impact, or does the reverse and allows you to discard a card that you have seen coming with the Palantir. This combination could be cut in order to make room for more allies in the deck, or for A Burning Brand and a way to increase Aragorn's defense, such as DĂșnedain Warning.

Errand-riders shift resources around. If Steward is needed elsewhere on the table, you could possibly put #The Day's Rising on Gimli so that he gets a resource while defending whether or not he takes damage. He does need some kind of reliable resource acceleration. Errand-rider could also sap unneeded tactics or lore resources for him, if Steward is unavailable. Proud Hunters also fits in this deck, but it doesn't work well with Gimli because he usually won't attack.

This deck should work well in a multiplayer setting thanks to the Ranged and Sentinel aspects. Rivendell Bow can boost Legolas' attack and give Aragorn Ranged. Extra Bows and Rivendell Blades can go on either of the tactics allies, but are especially useful on the Scout if you have cards to burn.

You could also replace tactics allies with a Rohan Warhorse for Legolas in order to get more mileage out of him.

Mulligan for Steward or Palantir. If you have Steward but not Palantir, you can send Legolas on the quest to enable Gimli to use his action and give him the attack boost. If you have Palantir but not Steward, you'll hopefully soon draw into Steward, but it will be harder to pay for Gimli's action.

As you say need solution to boost Aragorn and Aragorn defense and you can only play one dwarven shield during the whole game. Since you have steward of gondor gondorian shield will be great (even better than the shield) because he grant 1 or 2 defense, both on aragorn or Gimli. If I was you I will remove at least one dwarven shield and put some (probably 3) gondorian shield in the deck.

Interesting deck, I like it! I'd swap the Dwarven Shields for the Dunedain Warnings in the sideboard, or Gondorian Shield as Rouxxor said. Both are cheaper than the shield and are nice to dole out around the table in multiplayer. If Gimli is getting Steward then I really don't think he needs the extra resource generating ability from the Dwarven Shield either. Better to give him two Destriers for multiple cancellation and readying.

It's definitely a case of me wanting to try out newer cards. Gondorian Shield is better on multiple levels (can be played on turn 1, can be played on Aragorn, can boost defense by 2 once Gimli has Steward....). But Dwarven Shield, man! It's new(ish) and shiny!

Agree about Dwarven Shield being so new(ish) and shiny. In fact, at times I proxy them in for my DĂșnedain Warnings, simply to enjoy the new artwork, while feeling like an actual +1 buff. :)

This looks like one of the most interesting three hunters decks I've seen. Making it a combat only deck significantly boosts the effectiveness, it looks like.

Just curious, with so few high-cost cards and so much resource generation, do you find yourself with resources piling up and all of your useful cards on the table?

If a game goes a while, you will have more leadership resources than you need. You can use errand-rider to give them to other players at that point. In the early to mid game you need them!

Palantir combat decks are pretty cool, and this one seems to be no exception. I like this Gimli + Noble hero + Palantir tech as well, it could enable all sorts of new Palantir decks since it handily satisfies the cost of exhausting the noble. Are trying out the deck with your physical cards or on OCTGN?

Yes, Gimli + Palantir was where this deck began. I wanted to build a Palantir deck so I scanned through the list of Noble heroes, and this is the end result.

I've only tried it on OCTGN. I've paired it with a Cirdan/Narya Noldor deck (this deck didn't care too much about Narya), and with a Caldara deck. The Noldor deck shares some cards with this one (like Daeron's Runes) so I can't build it physically. I'm hoping to bring it to an upcoming 4-player event in my area, hopefully I'll get a chance to play it there.

When using Gimli, especially in tri-Sphere, I think Ioreth is a worthy consideration for your ally lineup.

Good idea! Gimli intends to take some damage here, and from experience so far he takes a bit more than Wardens can handle.
