A bird in the hand's worth two in the tree.

Description

These are the decks that my partner and I have been using the conquer the early quests and sagas. We only have access to the first two cycles, all of the sagas, and some select APs for certain cards. The goal is for each deck to represent two spheres, bringing out the best in the chosen spheres while covering each other's weaknesses.

First deck is an Elrond Ent deck. Its main focus is on handling the questing phase and keeping everyone alive while Treebeard amasses an army of trees. Tons of draw effects, healing effects, and readying effects attempt to dish out lots of action advantage for both players. Beravor, at first, was a place holder Hero until I got Loragorn, but I found that her ability to allow either player to draw cards when needed was unbelievably good, since the second deck in this Fellowship tends to run low on cards in hand. There are some gimmicks like the Imladris Stargazer + Zigil Miner combo to provide some resources, though for the most part the deck doesn't hurt too bad for resources (as long as Treebeard gets out early to pay for all the ents). Stargazer also makes Vilya a lot easier to use, which tends to be pretty nice.

Second deck is basically the other end of the spectrum. Its main focus is on resource generation and killing everything in sight. Eagles take care of everything engaged with this deck while the Ranged heroes take care of everything engaged with the other deck. Glóin is primarily there for his ability to generate tons of resources to pay for the expensive Eagles (using Song of Battle) and Citadel Plate to take big hits and stay alive. Radagast is in a similar position as Treebeard from the other deck; his main purpose is to assist in paying for Eagles while providing some Willpower (as this deck is pretty light on Willpower since the other deck's focus is bringing Willpower in bulk). Sneak Attack Gandalf combo is in full effect here as well, mainly for card draw or Sniping big enemies. Since Eagles tend to jump around a lot, there's plenty of jumper tech like Valiant Sacrifice and Horn of Gondor.

For the most part, each deck is meant to play cards for both sides (hence the fellowship). Unexpected Courage usually goes on Legolas so he can kill enemies on both sides and trigger his ability as much as possible, Lembas goes on Gloin to keep him alive while Arwen Undómiel gives him Sentinel so he can defend for both sides. Steward of Gondor usually goes on Elrond since he can pay for allies of any sphere, unless Gloin doesn't get rolling early enough. Overall it works very well. The sense of team work and covering each other makes it very satisfying to play.

As far as future changes, Bard the Bowman is currently only a filler Hero. He fills the same role as Legolas, but has 2 Willpower, so he assists in questing in the early game while Sniping enemies in the late game. He will immediately be replaced with Éowyn as soon as the saga is released. Four Willpower in Tactics with the ability to one shot the big bosses late game is absolutely perfect for this deck, as it really hurts for Willpower. The other deck, I'm not too sure, it works pretty nicely.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read all this nonsense, if there are any glaring faults with either deck that I might not have enough experience to identify, please say something!

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention was that my partner and I play what is known as "Sleazy Mode". We start the game with one resource on each Hero, but we leave the encounter deck alone. Using Sleazy Mode, we can play our big bodies like Treebeard and Radagast on turn one, which is kind of a big deal and allows us to enjoy the game quite a bit more.
