PablOvi 420

PablOvi has a newer deck inspired by this one: The Oliphaunt in the Room

Disclaimer: This is not a secrecy deck...

Middle Earth academics believe that, if you want to go deep into Mordor without raising any suspicion, giant bears and eagles are not recommended as your first choice. However, Radagast has never paid attention on the people behind the desks.

title with disclaimermakes me smile :) :)

i think you did a good job, not using Support of the Eagles and including Favor of the Valar

if not getting staff and The Eagles Are Coming! early i could imagine to get some startingissues? what about a Gléowine or a Messenger Raven? (with Wizard Pipe a save carddraw)

This looks great! Nice title and description. Do you think Meneldor's Flight is worth it? I would rather have Beorning Skin-changer or Honour Guard if you don't mind the lack of theme.

@NERD it readies Gwaihir and can save Vassal of the Windlord or Winged Guardian or Wilyador from discard, both with 1 0-cost event. seems fine to me.

In looking at the action windows for attacking and defending, I am not seeing a window to use Meneldor's Flight to prevent Winged Guardian from being discarded. I see where there is an action window to save Vassal of the Windlord though. Can you help explain to me?

Would it be after “6.4.3 Determine Combat Damage”?

Mar 01, 2023 kjeld 621

I believe that "resolves" and "ends" are synonymous in the Framework Steps for the Combat Phase. If that is correct, then there is an action window between 6.4.3 (or 6.8.3 for player attacks) "Determine Combat Damage" and 6.4.4 (or 6.8.4 for player attacks) "Enemy/Player attack ends [resolves]." So you could play Meneldor's Flight during either action window -- between 6.4.3 and 6.4.4 (enemy attacks) to save a Winged Guardian or between 6.8.3 and 6.8.4 (player attacks) to save a Vassal of the Windlord.

@doomguard This deck doesn't have much card draw, so even though it's free, the card slot is quite costly. Plus, it stops the saved eagle from boosting Eagles of the Misty Mountains.

Thanks for your comments!!! :)

@doomguard Yup, card draw is an issue sometimes. If the staff does not appear after mulligan, I know it will be a bad day for Radagast and the troop. All my prays go to the Word of Command in those cases. Didn't realize about the Wizard Pipe-Messenger Raven combo. Will include that card for sure. :) Pretty glad you liked the disclaimer :D

@NERD I tested this deck in four different scenarios, and I've realized that the Meneldor's Flight was always relegated by Born Aloft and Flight of the Eagles. I would like to perform some more testing before make a decission about cutting off the card. As @doomguard said, it is a 0 cost event and works as an eagle saver/Gwaihir readier, so I want to give it a try.

@ahez20, @kjeld already provided you an answer... just to add somethig else, I remember that the timing efects related to the Winged Guardian and Meneldor's Flight were a discussion topic in the past. Taking a look at @Seastan's post about action windows, I believe that, if the guardian is still alive, the action window after 6.4.3 should be the one we need.
