WingfootRanger 2742
This is my attempt at a solo-oriented dwarf mining deck, and it turned out well. Dáin Ironfoot and Thorin Stonehelm were the heroes I wanted to use since they were new among the dwarf mining cards. Both heroes are great, but there was still a problem of consistent card draw and resource acceleration. That is where Arwen Undómiel comes in, with her Elven-light while providing much needed . This deck was designed with solo play in mind, but multiplayer is certainly a possibility. The theme of this deck is not too weird, since dwarves and elves did once collaborate before the fall of Eregion, which resulted in the production of the three elven rings. If only they had cooperated as well since then!
Opening Hand
A good hand of allies is usually the ideal opening hand, but drawing Elven-light is also a plus. Dwarven Axe is also a great card for boosting Thorin Stonehelm's attack quickly. Aside from that not too much is needed to get the deck going for the first rounds, but you may consider taking a mulligan if you draw Hidden Cache.
Gameplay
Build up your as you play allies like Ethir Swordsman or Galadriel's Handmaiden and use Rhovanion Outrider to prevent locations from becoming problematic. Zigil Miner works best when you name 2, and there is the option of pulling a discarded ally back with Stand and Fight. The Zigil Miners can also help feed the -resource hungry abilities of Azain Silverbeard or Winged Guardian if necessary.
Of course, Dáin Ironfoot gets Magic Ring, Unexpected Courage, and Armor of Erebor. Thorin Stonehelm gets the Dwarven Axes. And once you have basically drawn/discarded through the deck, Will of the West lets you do it all over again.
Tips and Tricks
-
By a certain margin, the most common targets for Stand and Fight seem to be Legolas or Ethir Swordsman. It is not uncommon to discard these.
-
It is pretty safe to mine as much as you like once you have Dwarf Pipe, because you can just use it to place Will of the West on the bottom of the deck.

As for Dwarrowdelf Axe versus Dwarven Axe, I can think of few situations where it makes a big difference in this deck. I do prefer to have as much possible fodder as I can for Zigil Miner. |
Jul 17, 2019As much as I know I could simply print a proxy of Thorin, for those of us unlucky enough to never have seen a physical copy of the 2 Player Set, is there an alternative Dwarf that could be used? Would Gimli give enough bang for buck or is Thorin just more reliable? |
Jul 17, 2019While Thorin synergizes well in this deck, Gimli might work almost as well. The only problem is getting enough damage on him while not falling behind in combat, which can be a bit of snag depending on what enemies are coming out. |
Jul 17, 2019thoughts on Reforged ? it's pretty thematic and works well in a mining deck |

Jul 19, 2019Agreed on Thorin, the more I think about it, there really isn't a substitute, his discard on command ability plus his offensive capability and lower threat is just too good to pass on. Not like I haven't already proxied Gildor Inglorion. Just wish they sold that set in the UK. |
Jul 15, 2021Hi, it is realy nice deck. I have a question, why don't you play Nori that fits into your mining theme, instead of Azain Silverbeard. Or you should put in nori instead of copy of something else. |

I'm curious why you don't use Defender of Rammas rather then Winged Guardian.
I'd also suggest Dwarrowdelf Axe rather than Dwarven Axe. That might cost you a resource on the Zigil Miner, but makes up for it with the lower cost it has when you play it. It gives you a potentially much quicker start, and spare ones can be placed on allies.
