Sockheavn 5

Sockheavn has a newer deck inspired by this one: The Eagles have Come

This is my first deck ever constructed. I'm sure it will require work.

I Love The Eagles! My thoughts behind this deck was to create a deck that could bring out a lot of powerful allies quickly. Basically I started by grabbing every eagle card I have. Every card in the deck is a tactics card, as not to create problems with resources. The main hitters in this deck are the Eagles of the Misty Mountains, using the Born Aloft and Meneldor's Flight to buff using the other various allies face down. To the Eyrie and Book of Eldacar are designed to replenish both allies and events cards. I worried about the not having enough resources during play so I added x1 horn of Gondor. I would like to add more but currently I only have one copy. Descendants of Thorondor is designed to give quick damage while using various eagle card effect to take it in and out of play while supporting questing.

Our heroes

Gandalf is oing to be used to make progress towards quests. He was also chosen for the top up ability. This ensures maximum options for playing cards.

Eomer gets 2 attack until the end of a round when an eagle leaves play.

Hama can bring events in your discard pile back to your hand.

You could add a couple of Feint cards in order to achieve the deck-limit of 50 cards. Other than that, your deck looks pretty interesting, so I'm going to have a "test-drive" with it...!

WoW!!! I am honored that you would try my deck. It seriously is my first real attempt at deck construction. Please feel free to provide any feedback. There are a lot of cards in the deck aren't directly tied to the fluency of the deck. (Legolas, Knight of the Swan, Blade Mastery)

My biggest concern is not having enough point to dedicate to the quest. If I can keep the the enemies in the staging area down With an army of eagles this should be doable.

You really need to add Gandalf's Staff , i'd also add the Wizard Pipe and exploit Gandalfs access to all 4 speheres. Adding Steward of Gondor is boring but effective, especially when you're basically drawing 2x cards per round and concidering the expensive nature of the eagles.

I'd also concider dropping Háma for another hero. Book of Eldacar does much the same as his ability, and with Wizard Pipe you can ensure that you're allways playing it from the top so that Gandalf contributes to it's cost-reduction. You seem low on (and a bit high on threat) so I would probably suggest Éowyn. If you feel you've got enough willpower then Merry could be an interesting option to help you get more out of Support of the Eagles or Éomer's ability (and Merry can quest ok in the early game, until allies can take over).

It sounds like you're working with a limited card pool, so that makes comments tricky. :) With that said, a few ideas:

1) As Goggen said, many of Gandalf's toys would go well in this deck. Gandalf's Staff, Wizard Pipe, Shadowfax, Narya, etc.

2) You have a lot of offense from your heros and eagles. I would therefore remove Knights of the Swan, since it's overkill. Same with Spear of the Mark. In general, less offense and more questing will likely make the deck stronger. Meneldor would be a good thematic option.

3) Threat is high, and you have no way of lowering it. Éowyn is an obvious choice to help here. Other options include Secret Vigil or splashing non-red events via Gandalf.

4) Flight of the Eagles is a strict improvement over Meneldor's Flight.

5) Consider only have 2 copies of Legolas and Landroval.

Like I said at the top, all of this assumes a full card pool. If you don't have access to some of these cards, then never mind. Really, at the end of the day, play the deck and see what happens. You'll quickly figure out aspects are too much and which are too little. Good luck!

I now have 2.0 version of this deck. Switched out the Heroes. I actually would have added Eowyn but I had misplaced her card. I added 3x shadowfax, Wizards pipe , and Gandalfs staff. this might be too many (i shall see) but mostly I did it to bring me to 50. I took out Horn of Gondor and added 3x Resourceful. After a few plays i might decide to exchange it for Steward of Gondor
