Durins_Father 3137
Just like the previous Aragorn solo-deck(http://ringsdb.com/deck/view/8470), Elrond can deal with things fine on his own. Who needs those other heroes anyway.
This mono-hero deck is my second one and I wanted to make a lot of use out of the Elrond/Vilya combination. This effect would have you drop good allies into play each round while still having resources to spend on other things necessary to keep this deck alive. And although it may seem like this deck has a lot of cards in it, you can play through your deck quite fast with the combination.
Mulligans should be made for one of the best Secrecy cards to date: Resourceful. This will make Elrond start to make more cash as that is one of the problems you run into with mono-hero decks. Resource acceleration can be achieved with the Imladris Stargazer and Zigil Miner while the Imladris Stargazer can also make sure that Vilya rarely misses. Other mulligan cards are the Imladris Stargazer, Vilya, Light of Valinor and perhaps some of the readying attachments in your cardpool. The attachments can also be found with the Master of the Forge.
The outlands theme couldn't be avoided unfortunately, Elrond's ability was made for it and it can help you deal with the questing and with mustering power. Additional support to this deck is given by some unique heroes who could be targeted for Sword-thain to help the resources some more.
To keep your own threat below 20, there are a few options you could take. First is Elrond's Counsel who can lower it for 3 points and help you to quest. Needful to Know is a gamble but usually some encounter deck knowledge can make sure that it will lower your threat for a few points.
Ultimately, Elrond could also be used as a sturdy defender when Arwen Undómiel contributes her boost and A Burning Brand makes sure that Elrond doesn't come across any surprises along the road.
To make some use of Elrond's second ability, some healing effects are included but they aren't anything to write about. Just your standard healing. For some more extreme healing, check out one of my first decks on the site: http://ringsdb.com/deck/view/7821.
Any suggestions for the next solo-hero deck can be posted below, I'll try to do my best for those heroes to make sure that their deck can function on its own. Current ideas are to make one with either Boromir or Glorfindel.

May 30, 2016How about Beorn ;) |
May 31, 2016Sam would be a good candidate because of his build-in readying effect and stat boost. And since Hobbit cards deal well with having a low threst, the deck could be very powerful later on. Fast Hitch can also make sure that Sam gets some more actions. I haven't played around with Treebeard a lot but I do see his potential provided that you bring enough healing to the table. Beorn has got his own good and bad traits: although his is something to be feared and he doesn't have to exhast to defend, you would be struggeling with and he can't have any attachements. Which means you should get Sword-thain out asap. Thanks for the suggestions, keep it up everyone |
