Pure Series
I realized that my original Pure Series has become out of date, so I've remade many (if not all) of my decks.
This is a series of about 10 decks that I made that don’t share any cards with each other. Meaning I can only use Steward of Gondor in one of my 10 decks. This forces me to use different methods of card draw and resource generation.
I only use heroes that fit the theme or archetype of the deck.
I do include different cards of the same unique character in different decks. (Ex. Haldir of Lórien hero in my Scout deck and Haldir of Lórien ally in my Silvan deck.)
Outlands Deck:
Build an army of allies, and destroy! With the new contract The Grey Wanderer out, I barely had to edit this deck in order to fit it in. Search for Lord of Morthond with The Grey Wanderer, or if you have it in your opening hand search for Strider.
Opening Hand:
In your opening hand you typically want to see…
- Resourceful... that's it
Allies:
All the Outlands allies are worth playing. Ethir Swordsman is probably the best Outlands ally out of them all for his willpower boost.
The sole purpose of the Non-Outlands allies is to try and draw Outlands allies. Wild Stallion goes on Forlong once you have him out. Celduin Traveler is a 1 coin, draw a card while you're in secrecy. And Cautious Halfling is an attempt to draw two cards. Rivendell Scout is included because he is absolutely free.
Card Draw:
Lord of Morthond is enough to fulfill your card draw requirements, and luckily you are guaranteed to have it out on turn 1! Pillars of the Kings will be helpful for whenever you get stuck.
Resources:
Resourceful and The Grey Wanderer take care of resources for Hirluin the Fair to spend on Outlands allies. In fact, you sometimes have so many resources towards the end-game that I included Parting Gifts in the Sideboard.
This deck can’t defend or attack much until you get out a lot of Outlands allies. Luckily you probably won’t engage many enemies because of your low threat.
If you have any suggestions or questions comment below
Thanks!

Mar 29, 2020Yes, you get Lord of Morthond automatically from The Grey Wanderer. But if you happen to get it in your opening hand, you should search for Strider (since contract actions come after drawing your opening hand during setup). I was very surprised that no one has put up a deck combining The Grey Wanderer and Outlands - seems like the perfect combo! The Gandalf/Sneak Attack combo I included in my Gondor deck (coming soon). At first, I was skeptical of Pillars of the Kings to, but from playtesting it has been very useful as you want to play as many Outlands allies as possible - as soon as possible and just relying on Lord of Morthond for that card draw is not enough. Out of the three cards you mentioned I would take out Cautious Halfling first - he's just there to try and draw the most amount of cards for the lowest cost - if you find an alternative to him, I would be happy to know! |
i think, it avery good idea to take lord of morthond as 1. attachement. i never had it and gives another good option instead of the selfexplaining strider.
with his leadership and the option to spend for all outlands, and the option to play the 1. card of a different colour this is all in all a great option.
i think u can optimize it. pillars of the king seems not to be the right way. expecially if you do not have sneak attack and gandalfs. so i would replace the pillars with sneack-attack and fo the gandalfs i would discard the 2 vanish from sight and 1 celduin traveller (or 3 of the 3 celduin, 2 vanish and 3 courious halfling)
