Petkov has a newer deck inspired by this one: Dain's Fellowship (The Hobbit version)

Intro: My goal was to build a deck to beat the Hobbit saga expansion. Mission accomplished. Except the Dungeons Deep scenario (which tested the limit of my patience) the deck worked fine.

Strength:

  • Key was Dáin Ironfoot who greatly enhanced the Dwarf allies
  • Nori helped to keep the threat low
  • Once 2-3 dwarf allies are in play the deck becomes balanced and powerful

Weakness:

  • Low attack, but once I acquired treasures it's fine
  • Success depends on allies, with bad hand the play gets tricky
  • Despite having Ancient Mathom and Valiant Sacrifice it was hard to get more cards

Best Combo/Cards

Medium/Low Cards:

  • Balin - I've never used his Response ability, I'm sure there can be a better hero
  • Faramir - became quite expensive among the dwarfs
  • A Very Good Tale - with the many Baggins and treasure event cards, it became hard to use it's effect

Final Thoughts: The deck still needs improvement, but event with these cards it's very balanced and got me easily through the Hobbit scenarios.

If card draw is the issue take into consideration using Bifur instead of Balin so you can use Legacy of Durin. Then you can add other cheap and useful allies like Erebor Record Keeper. Also King Under the Mountain can be really good for pseudo-draw. Consider adding Cram to have Dáin Ironfoot always ready when needed.

Bofur played through its own ability does not trigger Nori (which requires playing a dwarf, not putting it into play). Also for Bofur here it's a tip: if you play it after quest resolution in a turn where you failed by just a little it will stay in play indefinitely.

Thanks @Alonewolf87 for the great tips, much appreciated. Didn't know that I was playing Bofur with Nori wrong. Will also try a deck with Bifur.
