After getting Lost Realm, I tried and tried to make a good Dunedain deck but couldn't seem to get one that could pull its weight. Halbarad never quested for enough, Aragorn never seemed to kill enough, and Amarthiúl acted as unnecessary resource smoothing. Here comes a new idea: an Heir of Valandil deck focused around questing. As absurd as it is, paired with a Hobbit deck it beat Battle of Carn Dum in only 6 tries (and one small alternate universe after I realized I used Armored Destrier's shadow cancellation on an Orc Grunt...)

Most cards in the deck are 3 offs because of the deck's focus. Muligan for Armored Destrier and Ancestral Armor. Most of your setup cards are in , so engaging two enemies early is important. Play Armored Destrier and Ancestral Armor on Amarthiúl to get him ready as a defender. Ring of Barahir and Sword that was Broken go on Aragorn to get him to 7 hitpoints so he can take attacks undefended and allows Aragorn to pay for Sarn Ford Sentry for card draw. Aragorn works alongside the Northern Trackers, Warden of Arnor, and even Greyflood Wanderer when necessary to "snipe" locations out of the staging area. Favor of the Valar is only to prevent you from threating out.

The primary goal of this deck is to use engaged enemies to quest like crazy. You can defend better than you can kill, so try to kill 1 enemy per turn while starting each turn with 2 or 3 enemies engaged with you. Use the variety of allies and Silver Circlet to quest as much as possible each round. Use Aragorn as extra when needed and to take out locations in tandem with other cards. Idraen can ready almost every turn, so use her for extra attack or even as a defender when needed.

Let me know what you think of this take on a Dunedain deck.

Have you considered some form of readying for Aragorn so he can quest and use his ability, thus getting double benefit from willpower buffs like the circlet?

I'm not having much luck with a Dunedain deck with cards up to the Lost Realm. I will now wait and see if cards further in the Angmar cycle help with this.

As stated above; I would definitely try to include 1 or 2 Unexpected Courage, at least to have Aragorn able to reduce a location in the staging area and then also being able to quest and add his full willpower twice, thus fully benefiting the Silver Circlet.

Also I don't know if there is any room for the following, but I have found that Woodman's Path works wonders with Sipragorn to "snipe" locations: Put Woodman's Path on a location without progress tokens on it and then snipe it with Spiragorn. I must say though that it is counterintuitive to run it with Warden of Arnor in the deck.

You could also consider running Mithril Shirt guarded attachment; it only attaches to Locations and thus pretty easy to take care of with the setup in this deck.

Where o where can he be?

Nice. But I recommend Descendants of Kings. Readying is always good.So is Unexpected Courage. When you use any spirit heroes I feel U.C. is mandatory.
