This is my first time using the Fellowship contract. I wasn't sure how it was going to play out. Especially with Rohan and the discarding archetype which is technically counterproductive to the actual contract. After a few playtests I'm actually quite impressed.

A key function of the deck is Théoden and Gríma pumping out the generally high cost allies. The allies come in pretty quick with this combo. Éowyn helps keep low threat and the solution to dealing with early threats.

The allies with 3 copies are my intended lineup.

  • Déorwine: defender and shadow cancellation with Song of Kings on Grima who will always end up with extra resources.
  • Elfhelm: he has a versatile role including his ability, but can attack and defend when needed. He generally gets Sword-thain because of his extra stats and the need for resources.
  • Gamling: boasts decent stats. He is also a backup plan for Háma and desperate defending. He combos with Morwen Steelsheen and an early game Grimbold
  • Gléowine: your easiest ally to get out who presents crucial drawing. I find it's best to play him turn one and eventually discard him (after using his response) with Morwen Steelsheen, save him with Gamling, and play him again the same round (use response again) or next round.
  • Háma: both attack and defend. Can do both in a single round.
  • Morwen Steelsheen: healing, threat control/stalling. a decent quester and defender after all allies are out.
  • Éomund and Grimbold are used for the early game, clutch situations, or can hold their own in terms of stats. They are meant to eventually go away once you have the resources to put the other allies in play. Théodwyn is an add for early questing and resource smoothing.

There is plenty of draw. I had Keen as Lances slotted in but found it less versatile. This was mainly because of the number of resources it cost in conjunction with trying to get out high cost allies each turn. It would only have served as a threat reduction card. I replaced it with Woodmen's Clearing instead. three copies of Drinking Song because you're chances of getting back the same allies are high.

Sword-thain is for resource smoothing. Unexpected Courage can go on a Sword-thain'd ally. Song of Kings for shadow cancellation. Elf-stone should go in any Fellowship deck with . Théoden's toys are easy to find with all the draw and therefore only need one copy.

I really like this deck! Rohan with Fellowship contract wouldn't seem to go together but this is pretty slick.

@Raiderjakk thanks! I wasn't sure how it would all work when I started. I just knew I wanted to try a new Rohan deck. Thankfully it worked out pretty well.
