doomguard 2253

it makes no sense taking some allies as Messenger of the King like Gaffer Gamgee whose only ability let him leave the game. who wants to loose a hero absolute stupid.

is it.

is it?

maybe.....

the idea to this came as we diskussed the Messenger of the King -matter with Bill the Pony

(meanwhile holy caleb has stated, that someone with "cannot have attachements" not only counts for attachements, it counts for all cards that will be attached, like Messenger of the King that will be attached, but remain carddtype "contract"

so, do the Messenger of the King do anything at all with Bill the Pony?

yes, if i do nor err, it brings that ally into the game for free. this is mostly not worth to have only 2 startingheroes, but it should work. thinking about this, i thought about other allies, that do perhaps not have their mainuse as hero, they have their main use in their ability.

time ago i made a (MotK) Glorfindel deck and found it of worth, thatm if he dies, he looses the heroe-state and his abilily is usable (play him out of the discard).

then the Gaffer Gamgee came to my mind. if he use his ability, he loose to be a hero, but remain (on hand) and is playable agein.

that is no small feat! it is an ally for free (=1 card + 2 res) and we all know, what Denethor do to the game.

o.k. the ally is determined, but why not build a deck around it. and, as long as you do not need him as ally you benefit from him as hero, after that you should be able to play him every round.

having Gaffer Gamgee in your startinghand is not bad, to have him as hero until you use his ability the 1. time, evan better.

it concludes to this deck:

standart hobbit-monolore-secrecy-discardpile deck

little gaming advices:

overall, yes this deck has much cards, but it has also many ways (possible 15 events that can draw) to draw cards and many cheap cards, so if you are not unlucky it should work.

if you want to reduce, for 1-2 player, the Explorer's Almanac are not really needed. solo, Gildor's Counsel is absolutely expandable, so up to 2 player you are at 52 cards.

enjoy

p.s. playing with alep-cards, consider the sideboard
