Uruk-guy 548
This is my first deck in a while, so the more appropriate title is "Teaching an old Uruk-Guy new tricks" but alas this deck is not about me. This deck plays around with Grimbeorn the Old in a fun way. The main goal of this deck is to have fun and is therefore sacrificing consistency in favor of climatic fun.
Basically, we want to abuse Grimbeorn the Old and Hour of Wrath. The beauty of this combo is that we can activate Hour of Wrath before our enemies attack, activate Grimbeorn's ability, and then attack all those enemies again. We can do this because using Grimbeorn's ability is outside the typical declare attacker step. As long as you have enough resources to use the ability you can defend/attack over and over again because of Hour of Wrath. We are still in the combat phase at this point. After that's done you can pulverize any other leftover enemies by regularly attacking them as the normal attack step. If you have enough attachments on Grimbeorn you can decimate most of any enemy board states.
But the fun doesn't stop there. The One Ring and Strength and Courage help raise our threat. This is both good and bad. If we get to activate Hour of Wrath's Valour action we can abuse not only Grimbeorn, but Éowyn. If we use the One Ring to get to 37 threat, and then Eowyn's ability to get to 40 they can both swing for massive amounts of damage. Gone are the days of relying on Rohan Warhorse for this combo. To sweeten the deal we can use The Hammer-stroke to force all enemies to us as they await for their impending doom. Háma can recycle the events you need to do it all over again.
Because this is a Forth, The Three Hunters! deck you will have plenty of resources and will likely get a turn one flip because of the cheap attachments.
An obvious drawback is the risk of threatening out. For this you can 1) hope your friends bring lots of The Galadhrim's Greeting, or 2) replace Feint with Secret Vigil. And quite honestly Feint is only in here to help the early game because it is counterproductive to the Grimbeorn/Hour of Wrath combo.
I will shortly be posting a second version of this deck soon which includes ALeP cards. So if you like this idea keep an eye out for the new deck too!

Jun 04, 2022why not having both... ;) in this case, i think if would be more effective without loosing punch, if you include a spirithero from the start. what gives you the monotactic? the only benefit is Book of Eldacar cost 2 instead of 2. the benefit: you can play spirit from the start and free up 4 cards (no need for the songs and thorongil) so i would recommand Arwen Undómiel or Legolas for Háma and include Elven-light and Miruvor this way, you would get more actions faster on your heroes and have more carddraw. yes, you cannot recycle tacticevents, but is this this much of a loss? do you really need to play them moreoften then you have them? |
Jun 05, 2022The whole point is to buy Hour of Wrath a stupid amount of times in my mind. The problem is you need way more resources. |

i think it is not so likely to flipp turn 1.
from the start, there is no carddraw (Foe-hammer works later). so u need 5 restricted in your first cards. that is unlikely with your ratio of restricted.
counting out the ring and strength you have 30 restricted out of 48 cards, that is 62,5 %. 62,5 % from 7 is about 4. so u likely get 4 restricted in your first cards. (i do not count Snowmane because you need spirit to play it, that rarely is happen 1. round)
with mulligan for 5 restricted (or 3 + Raiment of War) you can increase the chances, but i would say its all about at estimated 60% to flipp 1. round. is that enough?
