Mythik 202

This is my attempt to build a deck around Théoden, which is something that I've found difficult to do in the past. He's a stats beast himself - a 3 , 3 , 2 hero is not something to sneeze at, even if you're only benefiting him with his ability.

The Forth, The Three Hunters! contract is a decent way of getting some attachments he wants out early and easily, and where he fills the role of early questor and late game attacker like I've found I need in a three hunters deck well.

Beregond is our nominated defender, standing like a brick wall in front of everything and allowing us to tread water with our threat until the contract flips and we can make some genuine headway there. Also brings in Spirit access for cards we love to see for Théoden, like Herugrim, Snowmane, and Unexpected Courage.

Gildor brings us card draw, the designated questing role, some support for our defender in Armored Destrier, and also enables use of Revealed in Wrath if we need it, and together with Steed of Imladris or Elven Spear allows us to play Elven-light in some games as well.

As with any three hunters deck, get attachments out quickly - you want to see readying for Beregond early, other than that, whatever you can find. Steward goes on Gildor to keep your card draw engine going.

I think Elrond's Counsel should be included over The Galadhrim's Greeting. I also like Golden Belt in my Forth, The Three Hunters! decks.

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, Elrond's Counsel is an easy swap in - I think I had The Galadhrim's Greeting because I played Trouble in Tharbad, and the extra threat reduction was going to be more useful?

I find Golden Belt isn't usually necessary - I had it in this for a while, but traded it out for more restricted attachments because drawing it early isn't helpful, and drawing it late it felt like a win more card.

Once this deck is set up, Gildor usually has 6 and Théoden 5 , so between the two I don't find I need the extra restricted for questing. And once Beregond and Théoden have 3 restricted attachments they're usually beefy enough to handle whichever enemies come their way already
