Gandalf Guy 11
Book Club: The Council of Elrond
This is a deck in a series of decks designed to follow the books as closely as possible. I've set up a few rules and guidelines for I use for deckbuilding and they are as follow:
BOOK CLUB RULES AND GUIDELINES
- No allies that don't make thematic sense. In this deck Imladris Stargazer represents the "several other counsellor's of Elrond's household".
- Try to avoid non-thematic attachments. Steward of Gondor on Aragorn represents that he will soon be King of Gondor.
- Include as many thematic events as possible. Non-thematic events are allowed but keep them within reason. This deck needed Daeron's Runes and is great to pitch duplicate allies.
- Boons and Burdens must go on the most appropriate character. Frodo must get Sting, etc.
These Book Club decks will not be the most competitive decks around, and I wouldn't be surprised if they require most players to use Easy Mode.
ELROND'S COUNCIL
This is a obvious twist on the Vilya Elrond deck. Get Light of Valinor, A Burning Brand, and Protector of Lórien on Elrond - He is your dedicated defender.
Put most of the other attachments on Aragorn. He can attack, quest, or defend as need be.
The card draw machine can work well once rolling. Use Protector of Lórien, Daeron's Runes, and Erestor to pitch duplicate allies you don't need, and if you have Galdor of the Havens out you'll draw an extra card once a turn from discarding.
Threat might be an issue in some quests, hence the The Galadhrim's Greeting and Favor of the Valar in the sideboard. For Saga quests, you might try Aragorn. You can also drop Gandalf for Core Gandalf, but then the Wizard Pipe is kind of useless.
Also, my suggested hero swap for Frodo is Frodo Baggins and Glorfindel.
Also, try adding Heed the Dream and Master of the Forge per @TalesftCards suggestion.
