This deck was built for two main reasons. One was hero-based: I wanted to build with Grima and with Grimbeorn, neither of whom I'd used before. The other was that tri-sphere with these three spheres wasn't something I'd had success with either. I usually feel I need Leadership in a tri-sphere deck. Thematically, I decided to try the Ered Mithrin campaign expansion with this unlikely crew. The idea is that Saruman is intrigued by the commotion in Mirkwood and sends Grima to investigate alongside the more likely Mirkwood-concerned Beorning and Dale heroes. I think my concern without Leadership in this sort of construction is that getting resources and willpower can be a challenge. Grima does a fair bit on the former, but at a cost to your threat dial of course. The Galadhrim's Greeting, Secret Vigil and the side-quest Double Back are here to help with that. Silver Circlet, which I put on Lanwyn, and the allies Rhovanion Outrider, West Road Traveller and Escort from Edoras help with questing, as can Protector of Lórien, which I put on Grima so he can double up with questing or defensive support. Grimbeorn becomes an absolute monster when he has all of his attachments. I have ended games with Raiment of War, Golden Belt, Durin's Axe, Self Preservation and two of Unexpected Courage! If Daughter of the Nimrodel is out too, he's practically invincible. Still, you may need support early on and this is why there are three of the Beorning Skin-changer, who can transform into Giant Bear or some fatherly assistance from Beorn himself. Side-quests are great in the Ered Mithrin cycle and so digging for these with Gléowine and Lórien's Wealth is a good idea too.
