This deck is meant to be played as a fellowship with the corresponding "hobbits" deck.
Low cost allies are for chump blocking. Gléowinehelps with card draw and Gimli is good for his ability to both quest and fight. If he hasn't been played early in the game, he can be used as fodder for Flame of Anor if an attempt to destroy the Balrog is made.
Aragorn is at his best when he has Unexpected Courage, Sword that was Broken and Celebrían's Stone attached to him. The sooner Sword that was Broken can be attached, the faster you can progress through quests. Without a readying card, Celebrían's Stone is useful for resource smoothing, but won't be a lot of use if Aragorn isn't also questing.
If, per chance, you can get both Rivendell Blades and Black Arrow attached to Legolas, you'll have an even better chance to defeat the Balrog.
The two song cards and Steward of Gondor are meant to be played on Gandalf along with his three specific attachments. Shadowfax is expensive, but almost invaluable, especially when he can be purchased by Legolas as there are very few specific resources required by this deck.
