This is the deck my wife is going to play during the Black Riders as a thematic dúnedain deck to protect a band of hobbits marching out of the shire and to Rivendell.
EDIT
I was very lazy when I published the deck and I wrote nearly nothing regarding the deck. After the first comment by tickler, I realized this was no way to publish a deck.
Mainly an ideal starting hand is that where you have Strider and you don't have Ring of Barahir. Ring of Barahir enters play through the contract's effect and you play Strider paying 1 resource. In this situation you start with Lore and Leadership resources, which as Tickler pointed out you need in order to play those Elf-stones. Now, the Elf-Stones are there only as another way to play Legolas besides Timely Aid, but they are otherwise not necessary.
Besides the ideal hand, other good starting hands are those that include Celebrían's Stone, Steward of Gondor, Galadriel, or Timely Aid. Notice that Galadriel's effect can also put into play Ring of Barahir and the Elf-Stone.
Another possibility I have tried is to put Heed the Dream instead of Daeron's Runes. A starting hand with Heed the Dream and Captain's Wisdom will allow you to start with Strider and the Ring in play from round 1.
We have tried the deck in Anduin and 7th level nightmare, and in The Black Serpent. The deck works nicely in solo and with two players.
Since we are going to be playing the saga with a fellowship of three players, we have included Follow Me! in the sideboard to see if we will need it in order to play efficiently those Ancient Mathom and Elf-stone.
Happy gaming!
Did you notice the contract only allows you to play the first non-unique card without resource match every round? In order to play an Elf-stone, you need to draw and play Celebrían's Stone to get a affilication and Ring of Barahir to get that affilication. Or did I miss something here?
