I really liked the Eagle Archetype right from the start. As all of us, I made some atemps with Hirgon and Radagast . Nice Cards like The Dept could not reliably be played as you need some luck on drawing and ressources to fulfil the play-restrictions.
The Dude and his Stick changed a lot.Ressources were no longer an issue playing eagles. But still, the lack of the shear number of eagles didn't really help.
Now, we have the Big Mighty Windlord and some more backup. This changed everything. The Dept now makes use in any situation. Worst thing is a selected draw in five cards and two readys of the Windlord (Entering/exiting). Best siuation is stacking them on the MVP.
The Deck is quite generic. It contains all the eagles and their support stuff. So the how to play is also generic:
Early Game
Look for the MVP. Stack Eagles with The Dept, the reserve-Deck-Backup Card, the short-Time and ready the Windlord all the time with these actions.
Mid Game
Push one MVP, and Support the Windlord. The Small One provides extra ready of the Windlord Once or Twice in the attack phase. The Istari will provide some and prevent surprises.
Late Game
You will have a board of super-strong Eagles that can be readied (Stick, Merry, Windlord himself). If you manage to come late game, combat is no issue. The has to be provided by your co-player, though. Some threat reduction can help to prolong the game.
The Draw
Thanks to the large number of eagles, A lot cards are coming, in my games always enough. The Foe-Hammer will provide some more. The Elv does the rest. Command them in your hand.
I'm playing this deck since the spoilers came, and it is fun, thematic and quite competitive at once. Try it
