DECK NAME - "Run Away! Run Away!"
OVERVIEW - This is my attempt to build a deck that can handle tough setup draws. Frodo's response is crucial to survive early enemies until you can get Sneak Attack/Gandalf online. Denethor does his encounter deck control thing. If you go deep into the game and Nameless Thing has 10+ Frodo can take A Foe Beyond because Gandalf has lowered our threat due to Will of the West recursion.
HEROES
- Beravor - draw cards
- Denethor - attach 3X Unexpected Courage and Abandoned Tools
- Frodo - attach Steward of Gondor and Song of Kings
STRATEGY
- OPENING HAND - look for a nice, diverse opening hand with card draw
- OUTLANDS ALLIES - be careful when advancing to a new quest stage; Ghâsh will kill Ethir Swordsman if no Anfalas Herdsman is out
- Gandalf - don't be afraid to play him for full cost using unspent resources; Will of the West will insure he enters play a lot
- Ranger Spikes - you're hoping to snag Chieftain of the Pit, Swarming Goblins and Coal Black Orc
- Expecting Mischief - with Denethor's help enjoy a free turn anytime a 2 or 1 enemy is next to be revealed
- Hasty Stroke - there are a few brutal shadow effects
- Power of Orthanc - eventually Frodo can spend resources to discard the Shadow of Fear condition, but if you get an early one, you could lose his response and die quick
- Word of Command - included one copy just in case Unexpected Courage is buried deep; sneak attack Gandalf in and exhaust him to fetch what you need
