DazeMan 723

DazeMan has a newer deck inspired by this one: Hobbits Bring the Storm

Little heroes and big allies is a very fun deck type to play. With the addition of The Storm Comes in the card pool, the options of resource smoothing in order to be able to get the big guys out into play have become very fun. The Sands of Harad has given us a glimpse of what side questing can look like as the game goes forward, and these Three hobbits lead a team that takes advantage of this mechanic.

Here is how the deck gets rolling:

In your opening hand, there is quite a bit of flexibility, but a major bonus is any amount of Hobbit Pipes, Resourceful and/or one of the threat reduction events (The Galadhrim's Greeting is better early game and Smoke Rings is better once you have a couple or all pipes out). The Pipes offer very effective card draw when you play the threat reduction events, so between that Daeron's Runes and Pippin's ability, getting set up is decently quick for wanting to side quest.

Once you have a Resourceful, the first copy goes on Frodo Baggins to get resources accelerating for your threat reduction events. Within the first couple turns you should be able to have The Road Goes Ever On ever on in order to be able to use it and grab The Storm Comes. Once you succesfully complete this side quest, the Hobbits bring the storm. Continuing to reduce threat, draw cards, and accelerate resources with Resourceful on your heroes, there should be no problems getting a powerful ally army into play. As a Bonus, Vigilant Dúnadan and Halfling Bounder can trigger there abilities once a side quest is complete, and they are both good abilities.

I have been having a lot of fun with this deck and it is performing well against standard quests, and has been able to beat all the quests in the Sands of Harad box.

Strategy tips:

-Early game, engaging enemies can be dangerous. Feint and Defender of Rammas are in this deck to cover those holes.

-If you are not drawing your Hobbit Pipes, you can always chump Bilbo Baggins if you have another in hand, in order to be able to fetch another pipe

-In quests with a lot of Archery Frodo Baggins serves as a decent archery soak, because you can raise your threat instead of taking damage. There is enough threat reduction that this should not be a problem.

-Arwen Undómiel can use her ability once Vigilant Dúnadan does not have to exhaust to defend, giving you a 3 defender who does not need to exhaust.

-Fast Hitch after committing Hobbits to the quest can avoid most of the direct damage treacheries in the game.

Maybe you should add Elf-Stone. It would help the resources.

Elf-stone, is a great card. It could definitely help out! I'm finding Dagger of Westernesse at times is a bit of overkill with the powerful allies, that could be a good swap.

Why 3 copies of The Road Goes Ever On and not 3 copies of The Storm Comes? Seems like you are making it harder on yourself by needing to pass the main quest before you find your side quest.

@Seastan I think that is a smart move. I tend to like the cards that allow you to fetch cards, but it makes more sense to have 3 of The Storm Comes.

Updated taking @Seastan's advice. Also threw in Mablung for another helpful lore ally. ringsdb.com
