I expected my Bouncing Elves deck to be strong, but it exceeded my expectations. The current cycle of the game has brought us Thranduil, The Elvenking and Quicker Than Sight, really upping the power level of this archetype.

This new version lowers the strength of the deck, but for a good reason. I wanted a permanent version of this deck that I could keep built in my deckbox without hindering my ability to create other decks (I dislike proxying).

I therefore removed what high-powered staple cards the deck had: Steward of Gondor, Unexpected Courage and even A Test of Will. The deck still functions really well without them, even if it becomes slightly slower to set up at the beginning of the game.

Some of the stronger Silvan allies can be useful in other decks, but nowadays the cardpool is deep enough that it's not really a bother to make do without them.

This way I'll be able to enjoy playing this really fun deck for years to come, modifying it only as new card are being released.

Update: With the release of Mount Gundabad I updated this deck and I'm quite happy with the new cards. Greenwood Defender is a solid defender to take some pressure of Thranduil, much better than the lackluster Defender of the Naith. Elf Guide helps bring out the allies, but more importantly it's another tool to bounce allies back to hand

I find that Nenya is sometimes too slow coming out, so I found I also needed two copies of Mirror of Galadriel. I notice that you have 55 cards, making Nenya even less likely to show up - how do you quest successfully when all copies of Nenya are buried deep in the deck, even after a mulligan? Or am I just extremely unlucky?

My version of this deck is called Cycling Sylvans (https://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/10773/cycling-silvans-2.0), and while it's OK, I lose a pretty frequently - so it's a little frustrating to see you lowering the strength of this deck! I'm struggling against the Dunland Trap right now, but maybe it's just an especially difficult quest.

Mirror of Galadriel can be a strong include in this deck, certainly. With Orophin and the Galadhrim Weaver, the discarded card isn't even lost.

That being said, this deck can generate ridiculous levels of Willpower, even without Galadriel's contribution. There is a few games where Galadriel found her ring only during the latter turns, and I still was able to quest strongly. Maybe it might depend on the quest. I'm currently putting the deck trough the Dreamchaser cycle and it performs strongly. I haven't tried it against the Dunland Trap, I could give it a go.

As for the deck size: the deck can draw so heavily that 55 cards has worked fine for me. As long as Nenya hasn't entered play Galadriel draws an extra card each turn, and I never hesitate to bring the Galadhrim Minstrel back to hand and play it again during the combat phase. It won't get you Nenya, but it will thin the deck.

I'll try matching your deck a little more by increasing allies and reducing attachments. I don't have Mt. Gundabad yet, but I look forward to adding in those cards once I have them. Another point about Nenya: it allows you to play The Tree People, so one of the best cards in the deck isn't available without that handy ring! I have also found that I prefer playing allies during setup if possible, so that they can contribute to questing, but I'll try using Thranduil's ability a bit more (I usually only use it for allies). I look forward to trying a Silvan deck out with the Dreamchaser cycle after I'm done with the Ring-maker.

I think The Dunland Trap, and some of the other Ring-maker quests are especially hard for this deck, but I won't explain why right now because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. If you do try your deck on it, I'd be interested to hear how it fares!

I just played The Dunland Trap with this deck, and lost on the very last shadow card before victory, which gave a 5-attack enemy an additional attack. And yes, this deck isn't the best match for that quest.

I could go on a tangent on how the Ring-maker cycle, while incorporating some good ideas, is probably the low point for quest design in this deck. Punishing certain strategies (such as ally spamming or turtling) is fine, but it does so in a very heavy-handed manner. And I'm not a big fan of the Time mechanics.

If you wanted to tech a Silvan deck for this quest, I would look into including three copies each of Dúnedain Mark and Dúnedain Warning. Not very thematic, I know, but against this deck they will probably pull more weight than the usual complements of allies. And while I usually put The Elvenking on Galadriel, here Thranduil requires his rightful title.

I had a similar defeat when I played it solo - almost made it but not quite. Also just lost three times in a row in multiplayer - we're going to tweak both of our decks and try again. I didn't know about those Dúnedain cards - do you recommend them because they're Signals and not Items? Also, when The Elvenking is on Thranduil, do you typically use him to quest and then to defend, or to defend and then attack?

Glad to hear that more experienced players like you also find the Ring-maker cycle especially punitive. I guess that does sort of make it a good place to test decks, with the understanding that failure is going to be frequent. Mt. Gundabad isn't available yet at my game shop... I think I need to replace Defender of the Naith and Silverlode Archer with lower cost cards in order to get more allies out for chump-blocking those nasty Dunlendings.

Yes, Signals not being Items makes them very strong in The Dunland Trap.

In this quest readying Thranduil will allow him to defend a second time, which should proof helpful in the late game. I usually don't chump block much with this deck (I prefer to build a massive Silvan army), but (spoiler warning) The Dunland Trap is a quest where you should sacrifice most allies with all abandon. They won't help you finish the game anyway.

Replacing Defender of the Naith by the new Greenwood Defender made the deck stronger I think. Putting three of them in the deck against The Dunland Trap would make sense - he's the only ally who can survive an attack by some of the enemies in this quest. I hope you can get the new pack soon!
