LOTR FTW 31

This is a ridiculous deck that can be extremely powerful in a 3 or 4 player game. You want to start the game with Strider, Mirror of Galadriel or Nenya in your opening hand. Then from there you can pull one of the other three with The Grey Wanderer. You want Silver harp early to pair with mirror of Galadriel. This combo is what keeps the deck moving every turn. You want Resourceful's to come early. Use Galadriel's ability on yourself to start each round until mid game or late game when you can start giving it to other players if desired. When you have a Resourceful or two on Galadriel with Mirror of Galadriel and Silver Harp, you have your setup. Nenya and Strider are just there to help in the early rounds while you don't do much else. Ideally your teammates have sentinel and ranged somewhere if you have to engage something. You really don't want to engage enemies ever with this deck.

Now is when the fun starts. You need to find Path of Need. You may be able to discard it with Mirror of Galadriel or you may be able to just play it from your hand if you have the Song of Kings attachment already in play. If discarded, you can play it using Reforged. After you play it, put it on a location that's available. This could be on the active location or a location you will be traveling to (assuming you quest successfully or someone else has a trick to switch locations). From this point, heros don't exhaust to quest, attack, or defend. So sentinel heros like Beregond and Erkenbrand can defend everything around the board and ranged heros can attack every character around the board. After the attachment is discarded, you have several ways to bring it back in. Galadhrim Weaver can potentially bring it back if it's the top card on your discard pile or you can use Reforged to keep bringing it back again and again that way. Desperate Alliance is in this deck as a trick card or bailout card. If you have to engage an enemy and don't have answers, use Desperate Alliance and give your hero to someone else. This way undefended attacks have no where to put their damage as you have no hero to assign damage to during this phase. Galadriel can also be given to another player to use her mirror for digging for cards in their deck (if you haven't already used it that round). Will of the West is there to help shuffle in anyone's discard if something gets discarded that's needed and Gather Information is generally just there to help find Path of Need. Note that you cannot use The Grey Wanderer to play Steward of Gondor so you will need Song of Kings to get that into play.

This deck will shine in games that are long. 10 or more rounds of play with 3 or 4 players is where this deck is most powerful. Be reminded that having sentinel and ranged somewhere in the other players decks is very important to making the whole thing go. Keep your threat low and have fun making your teammates decks so much more powerful. Enjoy!

nice use of the path. consider hammersmith to have more options to get the path back (with her ring she has lore). and perhaps 1-2 drinking songs if the mirror does not reach it

Even without the ring, The Grey Wanderer allows you to play the first non-unique card of the round without the need of resource-matching. This also works with Path of Need, as it is not unique, despite beeing restricted to 1 per deck. So, the first time, you can play it by the hand, without needing to discard.

An interesting idea of deck. I'm not a big fan of playing those kind of "combo" decks, but anyways I appreciate the effort in developing them. Good job !

Hey! Thanks for the comments. I'm a long time player but this is the first deck I have publicly listed. I appreciate the feedback. Doomguard is correct that hammersmith and drinking songs could be good additions. I generally find that mirror will do the job as it takes a couple turns to get things going anyway. That said, i should add those cards to the sideboard as they could be appropriate depending on the scenario. Wehehe is also correct that Path of Need could played without anything other than The Grey Wanderer which is a good callout. The Song of Kings is in there for Steward of Gondor mostly, but can also be used for playing Path of Need if it isn't the first card you play in a given planning phase.

I also had a friend ask my why Elfhelm? I chose him becuase threat reduction is very helpful for this deck, he is an elgible target for Sword-thain if a better option is not available, and he is a way to spend money. There is a decent chance that at mid game this deck could have extra resources, especially if you get Steward of Gondor and Resourceful in early. For example if you have a location that cannot have attachments and you need to travel through it to progress, this deck will have a turn of not spending much money. This would be a great opportunity to bring in Elfhelm and reap the benefits of his passive ability.
