Durins_Father 3033

Durins_Father has a newer deck inspired by this one: 4-legged fury remasterd

This deck centres around the Rohan theme with a lot of horses and a lot of characters leaving play. But where that would spell disaster for most decks, this deck loves it whenever the allies are discarded.

To get this deck going, a Steward of Gondor on Théoden will allow for getting those allies out fast. With Théodens discount on every first Rohan ally, you can even get Westfold Horse-breeder out for free. This will supply you with enough fodder on the table to defend against those orcs.

But a lot of the cards in this deck can be discarded at will as well, effects like the Escort from Edoras, Westfold Horse-Breaker, Westfold Outrider, Helm! Helm! and Ride to Ruin will discard allies at will to ready Prince Imrahil, boost Éomers attack power and do a host of other effects that benefits the player.

But Rohan can also tap into some of the Gondor synergy, attach Visionary Leadership to either Prince Imrahil or Théoden with his Steward of Gondor to make every Gondor ally quest for +1. But I can hear you thinking: "There can be only 3 Gondor characters with this deck at best.". Cue the often overlooked effect of Mutual Accord. This event will allow every Rohan character to have the Gondor trait and vice versa. Now every ally on the board gets the +1 and you will blast through the quest. I didn't include Astonishing Speed or We Do Not Sleep for even more insane questing power, but feel free to use them if you have enough resources for them. If you do, you can get an Escort from Edoras for 1 cost with a whopping 7 and he gets discarded at the end of the phase.

The other theme of Rohan is the mounts. These horses will let you ready heroes so that they can dish out more attacks against an enemy engaged with you. Need an enemy because you have just run out of engaged enemies? Just discard Westfold Outrider to take a new enemy.

The nice thing about the mounts is that they aren't always restricted, sure you might need to give Prince Imrahil a Song of Battle) to give him a Rohan Warhorse but Arod isn't restricted and neither is Snowmane if you attach him to Théoden. Then, if all of your heroes are saddled up, play a Charge of the Rohirrim to give them all a +3 to destroy any enemy on the board.

Very nice! You've made good use of lots of cards I always want to use in my Rohan decks, but which always end up getting cut by the end: Charge of the Rohirrim, Steed of the Mark, and Mutual Accord.

I've always wanted to build a Mount-focused deck. Any reason not to toss a third Westfold Horse-breeder in? They're pretty much straight=up draw with so many Mounts in your deck.

Do you have enough cards for Prince Imrahil to pay for, or do his resources end up building up at some point? Perhaps he could make use of Gondorian Fire, A Good Harvest, or Parting Gifts?

Glad you like the deck, Prince Imrahils resources can be spend later to pay for the and cards when you give him the two Song cards. Although the Westfold Horse-breeder does provide the additional card draw to get to your mounts faster, she doesn't really help (besides questing for 1 or a potential chump blocker) after she has searched for a mount. I wanted to use the other allies as well to make sure that they hit the table and that they can trigger their abilities. But feel free to include an additional copy of her in the deck when you play with it.

Indeed, the Armoured Distrier will fit very well in this deck. Look out for V2.0 once the card has been officially released.

The new mount would be a thematic match with Prince Imrahil since the Armoured Destrier is a Dol Amrothian mount. But it could also go on Théoden who can take 3 horses since Snowmane loses his Restricted keyword.
