Seastan 44471
This is a thematic multiplayer deck that stands guard for all the peoples of Middle-earth.
Try to promote Beregond to Steward turn 1 if you can. If you dont get it in your opening 10 cards, use Heed the Dream to search for it. You can even use the full effect of Heed the Dream, provided you have the Captain's Wisdom to exhaust Denethor and pay for the Steward.
The idea here is to try to deal a lot of damage through the direct effects of Gondorian Spearman and Spear of the Citadel. The main weak point of this strategy in the past has been the expense of setting this up (which we solve with an early Steward on Beregond), and the fragility of the spearman's one defense and one hit point. But where one spearman is weak, together they are strong. We use the effects of Stand Together and Anchor Watch to band together multiple spearmen with Beregond.
With two spearman with spears and Beregond with a spear, you can deal 5 direct damage to an attacking enemy with Stand Together. You'll also have a a ton of defense, and any damage can go on Beregond, as well as reduced with Raven-winged Helm, Honour Guard, and Gondorian Discipline.
You can get multiple uses out of your spearmen with Behind Strong Walls.
Book of Eldacar might look like a strange inclusion, but Beregond often as more than enough resources to spend on it, and it allows you to Stand Together a few more times.
Denethor also becomes a passable defender here. With a Gondorian Shield and an Armored Destrier, he can defend and get rid of a shadow card on a weaker enemy so that there is no danger of your Spearman dying.
A good paining for this deck is a Narya deck, which can ready your spearmen, or Thalin/Haldir of Lórien which can weaken the enemies before they attack.
Overall, while it's not the most powerful deck, it's still pretty solid, and it's a fun chance to play with some of the lesser used cards.
