Overwiew
This deck is a "sneaky" deck when you do not want to engage with enemies but Haldir of Lórien allows you to attack enemies in the staging area. Thanks to him you can lower the in the staging area by killing enemies.
This deck is mostly for solo play but can be for multiplayer too.
Opening Hand
In your opening hand it's good to have :
-
Song of Battle, with this card you will have resources that you can spend on Bow of the Galadhrim, Defender of Rammas and on Arrows from the Trees.
-
Bow of the Galadhrim, you can play if you have Song of Battle and attach to Haldir of Lórien. Haldir of Lórien will have 5 when he "snipe's".
-
Súlien, you can save resources on her on the very beginning of the game because Robin Smallburrow's response will not be necessary in the beginning . You will mostly use her action to lower the of each location.
Other important cards (their are not necessary on the start) :
-
Ghân-buri-Ghân its a really good card in my opinion and you can play it on the second round.
-
Sword-thain that you will preferably use on Súlien because she is the only unique ally from the sphere and will generate resources.
Main Tactic :
In this deck you use (MotK) Robin Smallburrow and Frodo Baggins as questers, lately on Frodo Baggins can be sometimes your defender. Haldir of Lórien as an attacker that will "snipe" enemies in the staging area.
In this deck you need to know what cards will come from the encounter deck, for this you have a bunch of cards :
-
Cautious Halfling, Celduin Traveler and Ithilien Lookout that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck and discard it, but only once.
-
Henamarth Riversong and Rumour from the Earth that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck each round (for Rumour from the Earth you need to pay 1 each round).
-
Far-sighted that allows you to watch the 5 top cards of the encounter deck only once.
-
Risk Some Light allows you to watch the top 3 cards of the encounter deck and move one of them to the bottom of the deck (only once).
-
Firyal that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck and discard it each time she is commited to the quest.
In this deck you need to damage enemies without engaging them :
-
Haldir of Lórien is the main card in the deck that allows you to damage enemies without engaging them.
-
Expecting Mischief and Arrows from the Trees are other cards that allows you to damage enemies without engaging them.
-
Poisoned Stakes alows you to damage enemies without engaging them too.
In this deck you need a lot of willpower and a little cards that will lower threat in the staging area :
-
Súlien will lower the of locations in the staging area each round.
-
Ranger Spikes will lower the of enemies.
-
Ghân-buri-Ghân, Cautious Halfling, Celduin Traveler and Firyal (sometimes even Ithilien Lookout if he hasn't what to do) will give you a lot of willpower.
-
Robin Smallburrow and (the most of the time) Frodo Baggins will give you a little of willpower.
Lastly, in this deck you need to sometimes return an enemy engaged with you to the staging area (when you will raise the engagement cost of each enemy in play with Robin Smallburrow's response) :
- Guardian of Ithilien is perfect for this.
It's all, sorry for this long description but it's needed for understanding the deck.

Mar 07, 2021Seems like Daeron's Runes would be pleasant too, since you’ll often have cards that you can easily discard (eg. Extra copies of Song of Battle, Sword Thain, etc.) Also, seems like Gléowine would be an easy card to include. |
Mar 08, 2021You could dump altogether and use some combination of Ranger Spear and Glamdring to boost up Haldir. That would free up the three slots from Song of Battle and you could dump Defender of Rammas, too. For an emergency defender, you could go with maybe Háma or Treebeard. Also, definitely agree with 3x Daeron's Runes and 3x Drinking Song. Take No Notice would also seem to be an auto-include, since Haldir is also a Ranger. |
Mar 12, 2021Thank you for all those comments and advice. It's true that i didn't think much about card draw which is not very smart. I will be for sure editing this deck with all those cards that you suggested. |
Mar 12, 2021I posted the upgraded version of this deck here : ringsdb.com |
It like Arrows from the Trees with Haldir, that is a nice combination. You are reliant on Song of Battle for multiple cards in this deck and you don’t have card draw. I would strongly consider including Drinking Song to ensure you find Song of Battle early. It doesn’t cost you any resources and gives you an extra card because of your hobbits.
