Grimbeorn 76
This is the better version of this deck. I "upgrade it" thanks to all this people that commented in the previous one that is here : https://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/19802/sneakingandsniping-1.0.
Overwiew
This deck is a "sneaky" deck when you do not want to engage with enemies but Haldir of Lórien allows you to attack enemies in the staging area. Thanks to him you can lower the in the staging area by killing enemies.
This deck is mostly for solo play but can be for multiplayer too.
Opening Hand
In your opening hand it's good to have :
-
Ranger Spear that you want to attach t o Haldir of Lórien. He will have 5 when he "snipes".
-
Súlien, you can save resources on her on the very beginning of the game because Robin Smallburrow's response will not be necessary in the beginning . You will mostly use her action to lower the of each location.
Other important cards (their are not necessary on the start) :
-
Ghân-buri-Ghân its a really good card in my opinion and you can play it on the second round.
-
Sword-thain that you will preferably use on Súlien because she is the only unique ally from the sphere and will generate resources.
-
Glamdring that you will put on Haldir of Lórien an that will give you a little of card draw.
Main Tactic :
In this deck you use (MotK) Robin Smallburrow and Frodo Baggins as questers, lately on Frodo Baggins can be sometimes your defender. Haldir of Lórien as an attacker that will "snipe" enemies in the staging area.
In this deck you need to know what cards will come from the encounter deck, for this you have a bunch of cards :
-
Cautious Halfling, Celduin Traveler and Ithilien Lookout that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck and discard it, but only once.
-
Henamarth Riversong and Rumour from the Earth that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck each round (for Rumour from the Earth you need to pay 1 each round).
-
Far-sighted that allows you to watch the 5 top cards of the encounter deck only once.
-
Risk Some Light allows you to watch the top 3 cards of the encounter deck and move one of them to the bottom of the deck (only once).
-
Firyal that allows you to watch the top card of the encounter deck and discard it each time she is commited to the quest.
In this deck you need to damage enemies without engaging them :
-
Haldir of Lórien is the main card in the deck that allows you to damage enemies without engaging them.
-
Expecting Mischief and Arrows from the Trees are other cards that allows you to damage enemies without engaging them.
-
Poisoned Stakes alows you to damage enemies without engaging them too.
In this deck you need a lot of willpower and a little cards that will lower threat in the staging area :
-
Súlien will lower the of locations in the staging area each round.
-
Ranger Spikes will lower the of enemies.
-
Ghân-buri-Ghân, Cautious Halfling, Celduin Traveler and Firyal (sometimes even Ithilien Lookout if he hasn't what to do) will give you a lot of willpower.
-
Robin Smallburrow and (the most of the time) Frodo Baggins will give you a little of willpower.
In this deck you need card draw :
-
Glamdring, when you kill an enemy with Haldir of Lórien you will draw a card.
-
Gléowine that allows you to draw a card each round.
-
Drinking Song that if you have cards on your hand that are not necessary at this moment you shuffle those cards in to your deck and then draw the same count of those cards + 1 card.
Lastly, in this deck you need to sometimes return an enemy engaged with you to the staging area (when you will raise the engagement cost of each enemy in play with Robin Smallburrow's response) :
- Guardian of Ithilien is perfect for this.
It's all, sorry for this long description but it's needed for understanding the deck.

Mar 13, 2021This looks really promising, but I'd put in more threat reduction cards. You could use a couple of The Galadhrim's Greeting, I know it's expensive but I think it' s worth it. Another option is Woodmen's Clearing and last but not least the Double Back. |
This looks awesome, can't wait to try it out! MOTK really has opened up so many options.
